I was told the hotel was sold. There was no name or sign on this hotel whatsoever. How can you have a hotel with no name to let people know where you are at. The guy who checked me in was very nice and trying hard to do well by everybody, but I thought I was being punked. Stayed two days and never had anybody make a bed, leave clean towels, clean up or do anything. I'm really not that picky but this was unreal. Seemed so understaffed. I really should get a refund from this place it was so bad.

Disappointment
My fiancé and I booked this hotel room ahead of time along with the even tickets. We checked in at 3:30p, got our keys and upon our arrival to our room we found it had not been cleaned. The bed was unmade and dirty towels were on the floor. We immediately went to the office and they assigned us another room. The toilet had gnats in it, the tv didn’t work, it was out of date and unkept. The hotel had been bought out and this isn’t the name of it; It is now called Arthur Street hotel. I do not write reviews but needed to communicate this experience. We were disappointed. The room had already been paid for and most other hotels were booked.

I was screwed over! AVOID this property
Credit where it’s due. First, the good. Room was comfy and gave a good nights’ sleep. Staff were helpful, when they were actually there. Good sized fridge too.
Onto the not-so-good.
We checked in at 3:45am on the 1st night after a 6hr drive from Chicago. Staff member was asleep in a back room but got us settled eventually.
Our toilet got backed up on night 2. The security person plunged it for us so we tipper him $20. The next morning, it happened again and flooded the floor. Went to seek help again and there was nobody at the lobby desk. Waited 10min and had to leave a note as I was already late for work.
On our return later that night, we were moved to another room. There was a very strong smell of gas somewhere near the room. Quite overpowering and far from safe imo.
We had no housekeeping during the entire 5-night stay despite asking for it on two separate times. Floors were filthy. Wear your footwear inside or your feet will be black.
Worst of all, after checkout I noticed Id been charged almost $200 over the price quoted by Hotels.com (!!!). On enquiring about this, I was told that Id been charged a no-show fee for the first night, and the non-discounted rate for the other 4. We DID NOT no-show! We checked in at 3:50am. Check-in closes at 6:30am which is outlined on the listing. A complaint was lodged with Choice Hotels and it’s still unresolved. They’ll take whatever they want from your credit card. Shady! Refund me the amount above what was originally quoted!

Other reviews are correct. Sketchy area, old facility, room was very dirty. Odd characters hanging around. We were there for the derby so the hotel was full with lots of regular people around so we felt safe. Otherwise would not stay here again.

Never in my life have I had such a bad experience. We didn’t have a functioning toilet for 2 days and nights. The staff was rude (dripping toilet water around the entire room off a plunger). The manager was non-existent and still hasn’t returned our calls. Other people had boot prints on their sheets. Another group had a similar toilet problem. It’s a run down motel that knows they can charge whatever they want during the Derby and take advantage of people. I would rather sleep in a car than ever return here.

This hotel was so gross and hadn’t been cleaned for a while you could tell. Floors made your feet black, no bathroom door, food still in the microwave, nothing was plugged in (lamps, tv, phone, etc). Bath tub had a bunch of dead bugs in it. Nightmare of a hotel stay!!!

Right next to the free way, no room insulation, no hot water evening/morning, half the electrical outlets did not work, half of the lighting, phone did not work, tv did not work, hole in the wall looking into studs, 30-45 minutes each time for check-in/check-out.

Under construction. Construction dust room dirty. Towels were hard. Absolutely no room service from maid. Called was told no. No help. No fire alarm. Maintenance did put one in. No soap or extra towels had to use the same one. No coffee pot, no iron, no hairdryer, no trash can and microwave not plugged in. Room smelled of mold. Painted the day before. Very messy. The elevator had water all over the floor. Dangerous. Propane and pot smelled in hallway. $408 a night was absurd. Every single guest complained. I tipped maid $20 to clean our room. She never showed. Front desk evening clerk was rude and of no help.

The staff was friendly but other than that worst stay ever! Only stayed in the room 45mins before we checked out and drove to find a new hotel. Blood on the lamp shade, hair everywhere, holes in the wall and large group of drunk men hanging out around cars in parking lot. Do not stay here, not safe!

The outside area was very littered and the garbage overflowed. The corners of the room on the floor -especially in the bathrooms - were dusty. They ran out of bagged breakfast at 9 am and did not offer an alternative. The staff was very apologetic and friendly about it all.

The rooms were updated and clean upon arrival. The desk that was in our room was not put together well making it sway when touched. It was newer but worried that it could be a safety hazard. The breakfast dining area tables were not wiped down in the 3 days we spent there. Juice and coffee spills present on the same table. Staff was kind and courteous.

The toilet was apparently broken, my husband flushed after using it (he only tinkled) and then we went for a walk to the store that is right next door and got a few things and stopped by the car on the way back to get the rest of our things and when he got back to the room the toilet didn’t stop running and the whole room was flooded. He came to let me know because I was still at our car and the security guard told him to be quiet because he was freaking out. They told us we needed to come report it to the front office so I did but my husband was pretty upset so they called the cops on us and made us leave. I wanted to clean the mess up because the room was rented out to me and I didn’t want the water to cause damage even though it was their toilet that was broken. She told me they would clean it up in the morning and wouldn’t give me anything to clean it up. I told her that water couldn’t set like that till the morning or will cause a lot of damage She then told me she wanted us to leave and it will be cleaned up. She also told me there was towels in the room I could have used but those towels was no match to a couple inches of flooded water through the whole room and it was pour into the the outside walkway and over the banister. She wouldn’t give me anything to clean it up and when the police arrived I explained to them the same thing. We had to leave because my husband was upset and his behavior from how these people was treating us. This was the worse experience.

The bed was very comfortable.
The valve that supplied the water to the toilet tank was shut off when we arrived and after we turned it on, every time you flushed the toilet, you had to take the tank lid off and push the flapper down manually. The bathroom was very dark and the room was very small.

It is not bad. It is better than paying Airbnb that overcharge for cleaning fee. On the outside it does look very ugly like an old motel. But they did redecorate all the rooms and lobby. Room has everything you need, clean, plenty of outlet. Interior looks like a small holiday inn.
It is near the airport and the freeway so you can hear noises from plane and trucks. And the surrounding area kinda sucks.
