Out in Landers, on five acres where the neighbors are specks in the distance, the Kassita borrows from Ibiza, Mykonos and Marrakech: white plaster, white oak, brass and woven pendants, with walls of glass that open onto the pool and the boulders beyond. Swim in the saltwater pool, shower outdoors on your bedroom's private patio, then gather at the sunken fire pit as the sky turns pink. Three bedrooms, three baths, a cinema room. Mediterranean light, desert stillness.



The Space:

The Kassita is a modern Mediterranean home on five acres of open desert in Landers, with neighboring homes only visible in the distance. Plaster walls, white oak cabinetry, brass fixtures and layered textiles inspired by Ibiza, Mykonos and Marrakech give it a warm, minimalist feel, and wide glass openings connect the rooms to the patios, boulders and mountain views. Outside, a saltwater pool, an in-ground hot tub, an outdoor living room and a fire pit spread across the property. Two king rooms with private outdoor showers, a queen ensuite and extra sleeping space bring it to three bathrooms and up to eight guests. Stock up before you arrive; out here, the remoteness is the point.

-Outdoor Amenities-

Start with Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee on a lounger at the pool's edge, with Joshua trees and boulders all around. By midday, the saltwater pool takes over, and the outdoor living room, under a wood ceiling, is the shady spot: deep sofas, a sculptural propane fireplace, a teak dining table and overhead heaters for the cooler months. Fire up the propane BBQ and set the shaded table beside the pool for a long lunch. Sonos plays across the patio and pool.



As the sun sets, slip into the in-ground hot tub, then move to the sunken fire pit, where built-in seating wraps the flames and the pool glows turquoise against the dark.



-Living Area-

The living room centers on a built-in sectional beside a sleek corner gas fireplace, a large smart TV, an integrated Sonos sound system and a turntable on the console. The converted garage is a cinema room with an oversized sofa, a Moroccan rug and a glass garage door onto the patio. Games and books are on hand throughout.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The kitchen has white oak cabinetry, brand-new appliances, a brass faucet and a long island with stools under oversized woven pendants, plus a coffee station with Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee. Walls of glass slide open to the pool. The dining area just off the kitchen has built-in seating and sheepskin chairs, with large doors straight out to the patio, the outdoor dining area and the BBQ.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The primary suite has a king bed under woven pendants, a spacious plaster built-in closet and an ensuite with a freestanding soaking tub by the window, a large walk-in shower and a double vanity, plus a private patio with an outdoor shower open to the sky. The second bedroom also has a king bed, its own private patio with an outdoor shower and direct access to the hallway bathroom. The third bedroom has a queen bed, sliders that look out to the pool and Joshua trees, and a private ensuite bathroom. All bathrooms have plaster built-ins and brass fixtures.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.



The Neighborhood:

The Kassita is in Landers, a beautiful but very remote area about 20 minutes from the nearest grocery store. All homes here are on acreage, giving guests wide open space and privacy. The last 0.2 miles to the home are dirt roads.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Please note that Kassita is in a remote location, and the final stretch to the home is on dirt roads, so please take it slow. The dirt roads are maintained, and a four-wheel drive car is not necessary, but please note that the dirt road conditions vary and may have bumps and ruts, particularly after rainstorms.
