After a recent stay, we discovered bed bugs in our home. I called the hotel to notify them of a possible exposure, not to ask for anything.
During my first call, the front desk representative hung up on me. I immediately called back and asked why the call was disconnected. She told me that no one else has ever said anything and implied the concern was not valid, then said, “Because you’re saying false things about our hotel,” and hung up again.
Since that initial call, I have called six times total. Each time, the phone is answered and immediately disconnected without the representative saying hello. I was polite and calm every time.
Regardless of where the issue originated, dismissing a guest’s concern and repeatedly hanging up instead of listening or documenting it is extremely unprofessional. I would have preferred to handle this privately, but it has been impossible to communicate with anyone at the hotel.
