When you are mandated to pay for possible damage to the property at the time of booking (insurance or a large sum to be held) you'd expect the house to be in pristine condition when you arrive. That is not the case here so that was pretty disappointing. There is damaged floor tile, window coverings, cheap or not grout repair, a shower that looked pretty rough. There is a difference between run-down and rustic. This place is run-down.The toaster only works 1/2 the elements and the bottom tray does not lock. Apparently we had a bear come through so I got to pick up trash from someone else's stay. Get a bear proof can or empty the can after each guests stay. The house looks like 10 different people got together to design it and furnish it and none of them talked to each other. The inside is cramped with random furniture that does not look good. There is a step-down for the master bedroom that is about a 6 or 8" drop. No light or markings to highlight the step. Someone will break an ankle on that one if they haven't already. The step-down going to the back patio is pretty tall too. That being said... the back patio was the highlight and we enjoyed sitting back there for evening drinks and morning coffee while watching the rain. The kitchen is well stocked (actually over stocked). There is a fire pit and fireplace but you need to bring a axe or hatchet if you plan to cut wood. The communication was good. The wi-fi worked well. The location is close to town.
