Bienvenue to La Maison Papillon, a charming 4-bed, 2-bath, kid and pet-friendly Kansas City retreat with European soul. Located in historic Westport, just 5 minutes from the Plaza and Crossroads, this character-filled home sleeps 12 and is made for gathering. Enjoy a kids’ space, fully stocked kitchen, enclosed porch, fenced backyard & patio, plus free off-street parking. Perfect for family getaways, girls’ weekends and wedding groups, a home full of character, charm and a little magic.

THE SPACE
La Maison Papillon is more than a place to stay, it’s a home filled with family history, collected treasures and thoughtful details.

Many of the antique and vintage pieces throughout the house come from both of our families and have been passed down, restored and loved over generations. You’ll find an antique bed restored by Sarah’s grandfather and father, handmade quilts by Sarah’s mother, an antique dresser from Ashley’s Aunt Mamie, and a treasured book inscribed by Ashley’s mother.

These pieces live alongside things we’ve collected ourselves, giving the house a layered, lived-in character that could never be recreated all at once.

We hope you’ll settle in, make yourself at home and enjoy the little details that make La Maison Papillon so special.

THE ENCLOSED PORCH

Your stay begins on the enclosed front porch, a cozy spot to enjoy your morning coffee, unwind at the end of the day or simply watch the neighborhood go by.

From here, step inside to the beautiful entry and sitting area, where we’d love for you to sign our guest book and leave a little note about your stay.

Travel day essentials didn’t make it into your suitcase? We’ve been there. You’ll find a few extras like toothbrushes and shaving kits, please help yourself to anything you need.

LIVING ROOM + WORKSPACE

The main living room is comfortable, inviting and full of vintage character. The sofa pulls out to provide additional sleeping space, with extra linens provided.

There’s also a dedicated workspace for anyone who needs to check in with the office, catch up on emails or get a little work done during their stay.

Throughout the home, you’ll find games for slow mornings, family nights and time spent together.

DINING ROOM

Just off the living room is the formal dining room, centered around a large table with plenty of room to gather.

Whether it’s breakfast before exploring Kansas City, dinner together at the end of the day or a late-night game around the table, this is one of our favorite spaces in the house.

KITCHEN

Continue through the dining room into the fully stocked kitchen, equipped with everything you need to cook and enjoy meals at home.

Coffee drinkers, we’ve got you covered. Local coffee, a coffee pot and a selection of teas are provided.

You’ll also find a canister of snacks waiting for you because we know exactly what it’s like to arrive after a long day of traveling and realize you’re starving.

A full bathroom is conveniently located just off the kitchen. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided for your stay.

UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS

Upstairs you’ll find three beautiful bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed and its own color palette and personality.

The rooms combine vintage European and French-inspired charm with the comforts you want when traveling. Each includes closet space and hangers, a dresser, luggage rack, charging station, extra bedding and blackout curtains.

You’ll also find a tray with glasses and bottled FIJI Water waiting in each bedroom, a small touch to make settling in at the end of the night a little easier.

Many of the furnishings here have a history of their own. Antique beds, vintage rugs, marble-topped tables and family pieces give each room a character.

Each bedroom also has its own mini-split system, allowing guests to adjust the temperature for their individual comfort.

KIDS’ SPACE + ADDITIONAL SLEEPING

Continue to the 3rd floor to a space designed especially with our younger guests in mind.

The dedicated kids’ area has toys, a TV and sitting area, plus a trundle bed for additional sleeping. There’s also an air mattress, extra bedding, closet and dresser available.

It’s a space where kids can play, relax and have a little room of their own, and where parents can hopefully get a little downtime, too.

Families will also find a high chair in the home with a particularly sweet bit of history: it belonged to Sarah when she was little. (Or you can use the more conventional high chair. There are options.)

LAUNDRY + FAMILY EXTRAS

The laundry area is located in the basement, where you’ll also find plenty of extras for families, including additional kids’ toys, a Pack ’n Play, high chairs, box fans and other useful items.

Please feel free to use anything you need, that’s what it’s there for!

COMFORTS OF HOME

The home has a Nest thermostat along with individual mini-split units for added comfort. You’ll also have access to an iron and steamer, extra linens and bedding, toiletries and other essentials throughout your stay.

BACKYARD + PATIO

Out back, the fenced yard and patio offer even more room to gather. Enjoy coffee outside in the morning, let the kids or pups get some fresh air, or settle in together after a day exploring Kansas City.

Free dedicated off-street parking is also provided.

A HOME WITH A STORY

Above all, La Maison Papillon is a real home, and we hope it feels that way while you’re here.

The vintage rugs, antique furniture, family heirlooms, books and handmade details weren’t chosen to create a theme. Many are pieces of our families’ stories, passed down, collected and loved long before they found their place here.

The house has been layered over time, with pieces of where we came from and room for what comes next.
