Amazing spacious cottage, great for a family trip. Mark was an amazing communicative host but hands off so that we could enjoy our time together. We would have already booked it again for next year if it was available.

Wonderful Lake House Getaway

We had a great time on Gun Lake. The house has every amenity you could need and communication is prompt if anything arises. The lake is beautiful and was not overly busy, even on a holiday weekend. This is a perfect pick for a family getaway. We are looking forward to coming back next year.

Wonderful destination for family fun.

We had a great time during our stay. The home offers direct access to Gun Lake in its backyard, with abundance of fun lake-related activities: private pier, jets and a boat (for additional fee), tow tube, etc. We were able to bring our dogs along on our vacation which is a definite plus. I will absolutely consider this as a destination for our future getaways.

This is a great rental for families with kids! Our Grandkids loved the tree swing, there was a smooth pathway to the dock, and there were steps from the dock into the sandy area of the lake. We didn’t use the kids kayaks because our grandkids are too little but there were two available. Kayak, tandem kayak and two paddle boards for older kids/adults. Outdoor firepit and gas grill worked well. Cottage is as pictured in listing. It had the best kitchen supplies of any place we have rented!! Beach towels, beach toys, outdoor chairs, shampoo and conditioner, kitchen and bath hand soap, laundry and dishwasher detergents, TP and paper towels all included! Back end of cottage is somewhat rustic but front living/dining and lovely sunroom are updated, with fireplace in living area. Very cozy cottage with a spectacular view of Gun Lake! I just loved the sunroom overlooking the lake! Host was very friendly and responsive! (Note: the only reason I gave the review for price a lower rating is because we reserved over a year ahead of time to ensure we had a place for family coming from afar, and apparently within that year the listing price decreased. At the listing rate as of June 2026, I would give it a 5 star).

Awesome lake house

We really enjoyed our stay here. The place was thoughtfully stocked with lake gear like paddle boards, lawn chairs, and beach towels. Great location to sit around the campfire and enjoy the lake view. The living room is huge and comfortable. We hope to come back again. Thank you Mark for the cool place.

Great summer spot

Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, a well stocked kitchen and roomy enough spaces for a group. We enjoyed the water, the kayaks, the paddle boards and the floatation devices. So happy with the air conditioning as it was hot a humid when we stayed. Our family enjoyed the swing with our grandson.

Visit to Shelbyville for a wedding

We visited the area for a wedding of a friend. The booking, the checking in and the entire stay was enjoyable! The views of the lake from house is so nice! The house is clean but as stated in other reviews it is a bit of a rustic cottage and could use a few updates but that did not take away the comfortability of feeling right at home!Absolutely beautiful sunrise! I wish we could have been there for a summer stay because the lake looks like it would make for so much fun and it's just steps away from fun in the sun!Thank you Mark and Liz for opening your home!

Fun time

We had a great 3 nights at the cottage. Kitchen was well stocked, water toys and pontoon rental was appreciated and Mark was a great communicator. The reason we did not give 5 stars is because the cottage is dated and the sun porch is musty.

This property has a beautiful view and we had a wonderful time. The neighborhood is very peaceful and that is exactly what we needed. The pontoon and the house were very clean and nice. Roomy Lakefront

We enjoyed our stay at this lakefront home very much. The living spaces are very roomy, with lovely views of the lake. The home was clean. The kitchen provided everything we needed and more. The outside deck and tree swing are perfect--my grandkids (all under 4) really enjoyed the swing. The local grocery store is only 5 minutes away, which was convenient. The home is on a very quiet street just off the main road. All in all this is a fine property to stay in for a Gun Lake vacation!

Beautiful location

This cottage is in a great location, close to everything with a great view. It leaves a little to be desired when it comes to the house itself. It is very dated and has uneven floors. Luxurious it is not. However, it suited our needs well and we had a great time. Mark is a good host and a good neighbor to his neighbors on the lakeshore.

Perfect lakeside cottage

This Gun Lake cottage was the perfect place for our family of 4 and pup. Two separate bedrooms with bunk beds for the kids, plenty of room to spread out and relax in either the family room, enclosed porch, or backyard over looking the lake. The kitchen and dining areas offered ample space to entertain, and the cottage was well stocked with all of the utensils and paper supplies we needed for the week. Our family enjoyed using the included kayaks & paddleboards, and renting the available pontoon boat and jet skis for a couple days were a nice bonus to our memerable vacation. Mark was a great host and communicated details promptly and efficiently. We hope to be able to return again in the future!

WONDERFUL!!!!This was our first time staying anywhere but a hotel. I was hesitant due to horror stories I've heard. But we really wanted to take our Labradors on a lake vacation, so we had no choice. So happy about that! This was all around wonderful! Mark was so responsive and so fast! Like shockingly fast. He entertained my many questions and made me feel comfortable about taking our dogs here. I am admittedly a vacation snob. Kinda picky. The home is dated, which i was prepared for based on other reviews, but it felt clean and charming. Bedrooms were standard. The living area and kitchen were spacious, Plenty of room to entertain for when our adult children visited. I felt very comfortable the whole time. The lake was everything! We spent every day soaking up the sun! Morning coffee outside to swimming and playing on the water toys provided. Ending with a fire by the water. Truly my idea of paradise. The water is what you are paying for.The properties on gun lake are packed in tight. So i was worried about neighbors. We did meet a couple and they were very nice. Its a quiet area and everyone seems to keep to themselves. Which was great for us. We were not there to party. We just wanted to swim with our dogsWe definitely look forward to coming back
