Perfect home base in Julian, with character to spare!
We enjoyed a wonderful fall weekend at the Burgio Bungalow! We absolutely LOVED the amount of character in this home (although steer clear if you're creeped out by taxidermy- my toddler loved pointing out "dead raccoon, dead mallard, dead wuff," etc.). It's clear that a ton of work went into decorating this home over many years, and there are many treats to discover. Do keep this in mind if you have very young children who like to explore... ours are quite good at staying with their own toys, but it would be near impossible to child-proof the home if yours aren't. You'd need to bring some sort of kid pen to keep them corralled and away from wires, the wood stove, little trinkets, and the like. Again, the cool decor was a big plus for us, but just so's you're prepared. :) The surrounding property is gorgeous (as is the view!), and we enjoyed many walks around the neighborhood and back up the path that the owner has created. Wifi works well should you need to work while there. The only aspect I didn't love (and it's noted in the property description, so not a surprise!) was the lack of a shower in the two main bathrooms (I can't speak to the bath attached to optional 6th bedroom). I'm too old and crochety to enjoy a tub, and I gave up attempting to wash my hair with the handheld shower thingee and just determined I'd go "rustic" while we were in the mountains. Not a big issue for us, but I'd be annoyed if we were staying for more than a few days (and it would not be an issue if I were half my age or slightly more whimsical). We really loved our stay at Burgio Bungalow and would love to return the next time we're in the area. Thank you so much for a wonderful fall weekend!!
