Caretaker's Cottage: 4 BR Pet Friendly River View

The stone Caretaker's Cottage on River Mountain Farm is a private 4-bedroom, 1-bathroom house that sleeps up to 7 and is pet friendly. It is perfect for a family getaway or friends’ trip. The cottage has two shotgun-style suites upstairs (1 king bed + 1 twin day bed and 1 queen bed + 2 twin beds) and also has a foldout queen sofa bed downstairs to give you a little extra room. The Cottage has central heat for the winter and ceiling fans in all bedrooms, plus two window A/C units in the large bedrooms that provide cool sleeping temperatures in the summer. The bathroom features a claw foot tub with shower fixtures.
 
***NEW In 2025: Renovated just last year, the cottage features all new doors, and new easy-open windows with built-in screens to let in the cool mountain air and keep out the bugs. The kitchen now features a brand new smart stove and oven with plenty of counter space for meal prep and a new microwave with stovetop work light and recirculating vent.
 
You can relax in the hammock on the 2nd story porch or hang out in one of the two living/gaming areas. The living room on the first floor is stocked with games and you'll find a selection of DVDs as well as an Amazon Fire TV and Xbox upstairs. The cottage features indoor and outdoor dining areas with an outdoor fire pit, and includes a kitchen stocked with appliances including a new stove/oven, a full refrigerator, a microwave, a blender, a crock pot/slow cooker, and an outdoor gas grill. High-speed wireless internet is available throughout the house and is suitable for streaming movies or making video calls. There is also a small desk for work, should you need it.
 
On site, you'll have access to 137 acres of hiking and nearly a mile and a quarter of river frontage for fishing or kayaking. You can borrow one of our four kayaks, two paddle boards, or two river tubes or bring your own and launch from our new floating dock. We provide most of the gear you will need including adult life jackets, paddles, and waterproof bags. The owners, Adrienne and Drew, live on the property and are available to assist with anything you might need before or during your stay. For smaller groups, you can reserve one of the other cabins on the farm. Each building is a comfortable distance from the others, so while you may see other guests on the property, you will still be able to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the farm.
 
The Caretaker's Cottage always includes free coffee and free firewood for the fire pit (sustainably harvested from the property), and free propane for the grill. We also supply all linens and bath towels, as well as hand soap in the kitchen and bathroom.  A new 60-panel solar array attached to the original barn generates 24,000+ kWh and covers all of our energy consumption. We also offer 100% contactless check-in and check-out with a smart lock on the front door to keep you safe and healthy.
