So, mixed review. The hotel itself was terrific. The breakfast was very good. So we were pleased with all that. But the check in was awful. After driving for hours in a blizzard we arrived to be told if we wanted to check in we would need to pay….again. Even though I had a receipt from Expedia showing we had paid? The front desk clerk said the hotel was showing it hadn’t received the money from Expedia.
Stuff happens. I get that. We had only booked an hour previously. But my beef is that even upon showing the lady our paid receipt, there was no offer to help on her part. There was no ‘oh dear, let’s see what I can do to help you’. There was only a curt ‘if you want to stay here, you’ll need to pay us again. Call Expedia yourself’.
So, 45 minutes later and several frantic phone calls, the issue was corrected and we were able to check in (thanks to Dakota with Expedia customer service). Like I said, I understand things happen. But I was disappointed in the Holiday Inn staff member who had absolutely no interest in helping us in any way.
