Welcome to Somnia, a holiday haven in the heart of the Garrison World Heritage Centre, and only minutes away from the wonderful beaches, bars and restaurants of Christchurch, Barbados. The apartment is on the ground floor of a detached house in a residential cul-de-sac. It is ideal for visitors who want easy access to the best beaches on the south coast, such as the famous Accra Beach (Rockley) and Hastings Boardwalk, as well as a fantastic range of bars, fast food outlets and fine dining restaurants to please all tastes. Local amenities, such as supermarkets, ATMs, pharmacies, and public transport, are within a few minutes' walk. Many popular visitor attractions are close by, such as the George Washington House, the Barbados Museum and the Garrison Savannah where visitors can mingle with locals and enjoy free horse racing during the season. The capital city, Bridgetown, offers fabulous duty-free shopping, including the famous Cave Shepherd department store. The apartment offers guests a comfortably furnished home-from-home. There are two bedrooms with double beds, air conditioning and ample storage space for clothes and luggage. The bathroom is equipped with shower, toilet, washbasin and towels. After a day out at the beach or exploring Barbados’s many attractions, you can relax in the spacious open-plan lounge; watch internet TV, play board or card games, have a few rounds of dominoes, read a book or enjoy an eclectic selection of music. High-speed internet is available throughout the property for leisure or work purposes. The apartment is ideal for guests who prefer self-catering options. We offer a fully equipped kitchen with a good-sized fridge-freezer, microwave, cooker and oven with a grill, coffee machine and just about every piece of kitchen equipment you will need. Perfect for guests wanting to try their hand at some Bajan dishes such as macaroni pie and flying fish. For those who prefer not to use their precious holiday time in the kitchen, there is a range of nearby restaurants and bars offering breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks, as well as several fast-food outlets offering free home delivery. Our agent, Trudi, can also arrange for a professional chef to come in and cook a special meal for you. Recent guests have used this service for Christmas dinner and for sampling traditional Bajan cooking. A special feature of the apartment is its large patio, furnished with easy lounging chairs. Take time to relax as you enjoy a lazy breakfast while planning the day's activities. In the afternoon, enjoy a chilled beer or wine, rum punch or whatever cocktail takes your fancy, (help yourselves to fresh coconuts and limes from the trees in the garden), while watching the antics of our resident family of green monkeys, or marvelling at the iridescent hummingbirds as they hover over the flowering plants. In the evenings, relax out here and enjoy spectacular sunsets over the Caribbean. Whatever time of day, the patio is the perfect place to relax. The apartment is situated on a hill overlooking the Caribbean and is often blessed with a fresh breeze. The apartment accommodates four guests comfortably, so it is the perfect choice for a family, a couple or a group of friends. A housekeeper is available who will clean the apartment and change towels and bedding on a weekly basis. She will also give you a hand with your laundry if requested, though this is at the guests' own expense. The washing machine and dryer are in a separate utility room behind the house. A high-chair and travel cot are provided for infants. There is free parking for up to three cars in the driveway, and guests are welcome to make use of the garden and the utility room. Please note that we also have a 2-bedroom 2-bathroom apartment on the first floor of Somnia. This can accommodate up to four or five people. For larger groups/families, both apartments can be rented as a single house. Please do contact us if you are interested in this option.

Great vacation on Barbados

Cozy apartment close to a few beaches and also shopping facilities. There was a safe, but unfortunately it did not work. The agent was informed, unfortunately the safe was not repaired or replaced until our departure. Otherwise, everything we needed was available, but the doors could do with some oiling. The furnishings are a bit dated / worn. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay there.

Clean and comfortable

The property is clean and comfortable. The properry manager is very attentive. They have pretty much everything you need in the house. It’s nice to have laundry facilities available right in the compound. It is also nice to have a small outdoor seating area. It is located a little bit in the neighborhood so it’s a good 15-20 min walk from/to the boardwalk. Can be inconvenient without a vehicle but not a bad walk and the neighborhood is nice and safe. The property is located in the bottom floor so you can hear the neighbor’s footsteps all day/night. You do get used to it after some time. Overall, recommend.

Lovely stay

We stayed with our daughter and the apartment was the perfect size. Bedrooms are lovely, the living area is spacious and the kitchen is well equipped.We loved having breakfast on the ouside patio area, the gardens are beautiful. The location is great, the neighbourhood is very friendly and its easy to get buses from the main road. A lovely stay, thank you !

Things to have in mind when booking

Spent two weeks here on Xmas and new year , can’t fault the host and the house keeper , very helpful and welcoming people but let’s start with the house. It’s 10 min walk to the nearest beach which is very small , rocky bay and no sun lounges there so nearest beach with sun lounges is rockley beach , so check the distance if it’s ok for you to walk . it’s nice walk along the coast but it’s very hot. If you can expend your budget stay closer to the beach. The house itself is very worn down , needs repainting and updating. Cleanness is not great , kitchen cupboards smell inside , toilet does not flush properly , bedroom wardrobe is filthy in between the wooden doors, you will have trouble to fight with mosquitoes indoors as the lounge doors that lead to the patio have open area above the doors so does not matter how much you spray inside they still coming in through the gaps. Neighbors are very loud , dogs barking non stop through the night so if you are a light sleeper consider that . My daughter’s swimming costume was stolen from the garden where it was drying so please be careful of what you leave on the patio . Trudi was very kind to check the cameras but unfortunately they only show the main gate not the fence separating our villa with the neighbors.
