Tolle Unterkunft im Norden der Hühnerinsel
Ein grosszügiges Resort fast am Ende der Strasse zum Hanea Park. Fantastisch gelegen, auch wenn der Strand vor dem Hotel nicht ganz ideal war. Aber davon gibt es zur Genüge in Kauai. Interessant ist dass das Klima auf der Nordseite der Insel total anders ist als im Süden. Hier gibt es viel Wind und dadurch gibt es im Meer zum Teil recht hohe Wellen. Ein tolles Naturschauspiel.

Fantastic Condo in Hanalei
The condo is perfectly located right at the beach in the village of Hanalei. Make sure you book an ocean view or front room to enjoy your stay even more. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. We stayed there as a family of three would stay in the condo anytime again.

Ruhige Unterkunft direkt am Meer
Das Resort liegt direkt am Meer. Aber wegen der ganzen Steine ist es nicht so schön dort ins Meer zu gehen. Aber man kann sehr weit Spazierengehen und vom Zimmer aus dem Meer lauschen (sofern man mind Ocean View bucht). Und es ist sehr ruhig, da keine Fernseher oder Klimaanlagen rauschen. Sehr entspannend! Wir haben es genossen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Der Ort ist super. Allerdings ist der Zustand der Wohnung eher basic und die Reinigung nur alle 3 Tage, was für den Preis nicht angemessen ist.

wunderschöne Appartementanlage am Meer, sehr ruhig
Diese Anlage besticht durch ihre Ruhe, direkte Meerlaage, allerdings lt Prospekt kein ausgewiesener Badestrand, toller Sandstrand, ins flache Wasser kann man allerdings schon mal reingehen äußerst gepflegte Gartenanlage der Pool ist klein und ohne Meerblick Appartement sehr gut ausgestattet tolle Terrasse

Abgeschieden, ruhig und mal weniger "amerikanisch"
Unsere 3-Wochen-Rundreise über die hawaiianischen Inseln hat hier ihr Ende gefunden. Dieses Resort verkörpert die "Garteninsel Kauai" sehr gut durch Abgeschiedenheit im Norden der Insel. Wer Ruhe sucht, ist hier richtig aufgehoben. Viele interessante Orte/Unternehmungsmöglichkeiten liegen unweit dieser Anlage, die groß, sauber und gut ausgestattet ist.

Es ist ein sehr ruhiges, großzügiges Hotel.
Die Hotelzimmer sind apartmentgleich mit vollständig eingerichteter Küche und sehr viel Platz. Es ist eine Kühlbox vorhanden für Strand oder Auto. Man kann den Grill neben den Häusern benutzen und sich frischen Fisch grillen, außerdem besteht die Möglichkeit für 1$ die Waschmaschine und den Trockner zu benutzen. Ein idealer Ort um mal richtig zu entspannen.

Lage hui, Zimmer pfui! Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis?
Die Anlage rühmt sich seit den 60ern zu bestehen, nunja so sind auch die Zimmer, Da hat man teilweise das Gefühl, dass seit dieser Zeit nichts gemacht wurde. Die Möbel und Küche inkl. Küchengeräte sind veraltet - Ausnahme: Mikrowelle - und stinken teilweise wie vermodert. Teilweise kam wegen der Feuchtigkeit auch die Tapete von der Wand. Zimmerservice - was das? Wir waren 6 Nächte dort und unser Zimmer wurde 1 Mal gereinigt bzw. die Handtücher gewechselt. Es gib auch nicht durchgängig Fenster, sondern teilweise - ich weiss gar nicht ob die Bezeichnung richtig ist - Holzlammellenfenster. Es hat folglich die ganze Nacht gepfiffen und gezogen. Es gibt kein Fernsehen oder Radio, nur mehr oder weniger gut funtionierendes WLAN Jedoch, die Lage an der Nordküste ist klasse und die Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich. direkt am Meer (Baden jedoch kaum möglich wegen zu hoher Wellen und teilweisen Steinküste), ca. 5 Minuten bis Tunnels Beach bzw. zum berühmten Trail an der Westküste entlang oder in die andere Richtung nach Hanalei auch nur 10 Minuten. Ein Auto ist sehr zu empfehlen, da man sonst sehr eingeschränkt ist. Alles in allem passt u.E. einfach das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht. Für das Geld kann man wohl wesentlich kompfortabler in ebenso guter Lage östlich von Hanalei/Princeville unterkommen.

Hanalei Colony Resort begeistert
Das riesige Appartment mit gut ausgestatteter Küche und komfortablem Balkon war jeden Cent des nicht ganz billigen Abgebotes wert. Die Lage exponiert (wir konnten an einem Tag die wegen Überflutung gesperrte Straße nicht passieren). Vorsicht also -> nach Möglichkeit nicht bis zum Abflugtag dort bleiben. Die Umgebung ist für jeden Naturliebhaber überwältigend. Gute Wander- und Bademöglichkeiten.

The staff and property are amazing, but the location ended up being the best part. Kauai is beautiful everywhere, but the north shore area around HCR really takes the cake! Great, quiet beaches and a variety of things to do close by (but HCR is also far enough away that you don't feel like you're in a heavy tourism area). The shuttle service makes getting around easy but the staff also has good local knowledge/tips if you want to drive yourself. Don't think we'll stay anywhere else on Kauai now that we've found this gem.

Staff and property are perfect for the area. The room was clean with a well equipped kitchen. The resort is a bit secluded from the already small secluded town of Hanalei. They do offer a shuttle service into town and back if needed. We loved our experience there and would stay at the resort again.

I loved staying at HCR! I was staying in Kauai for 10 days, and decided to stay there for 3 days, and the other 7 elsewhere, but in hindsight I wished I had stayed at HCR for 7 and the other for 3. It's a really cool little property with condos next to a primo beach. Staff is super-friendly and helpful. The property is gorgeous. I love that it had a really good restaurant and coffee shop on premise, and then you're a short drive away from a picturesque little town where there are a lot more amenities. In your condo you get a full kitchen, nice bathroom, and if you are on the 2nd floor you get a great little porch. I found it so relaxing there, and would definitely stay there again next time I'm in Kauai.

This is a unique property near the end of the road on the north end. The units are not two room. They are not all equal, my family was on site, some rooms have two baths, mine had one, none have two rooms, just two sleeping spaces in a studio layout. it's a nice property near the beach. The person who checked me in was rude regarding my use of Expedia to book. Overall a strange place.

The property is oceanfront and the grounds are lovely. The rooms are dated and used. The property hosted people and first responders after the floods and it shows. The restaurant feels more like a community space than a restaurant, the check-in staff person was nonplussed. The general area can’t be beat though, Hanalei is beautiful.

Beautiful, beach front location. Quiet area on the ocean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not much in the way of amenities (grocery / restaurants) right near by. Must travel to Hanalei to purchase supplies / food for the fridge. The only issue we had was the overhead lights. Multiple times during the stay the lights would turn on by themselves - they turned on at 5am and again around 9-10pm, both times we were sleeping. It could be the sensors in the other rooms or some other issue. The restaurant was ok. Wasn’t anything spectacular but the service was decent and the views were worth it. We would stay here again.

This property is by far my favorite place to stay on Kauai. Some people may not like the fact that there is no TV or AC and it is not considered what goes for a resort now days, but this is exactly what makes it so special, we particularly liked the kitchen, the view and the kitties. Of course being right on the ocean does help. The staff is amazing, we adore Sierra at the front desk, Max our driver, and Steven, the manager, each one so responsive to our needs, they made us feel like family. Our trip was too short! We will be back.

This is a great resort. It is at the end of the road on the north side so own transportation is essential. Very close to many beaches. Plan ahead and get reservations for the trail,a day of great hiking,beaches,and snorkeling. No a/c or tv, but was there a week and did not miss it. Plan plenty of drive time to activities on south and west side of island,traffic is just bad anywhere on the island. The restaurant and coffee shop at the resort is great.

Great location let down by customer service.
Loved the location and views, but I was wishing for Aircon in such a hot and humid climate! Also lack of TV is disappointing, everything in the area shuts down at 9pm, can't sit out on the balcony because it's pitch black and usually windy. For these reasons I'd rate it 3star apart from the fact I found the front of house team a disaster area, miserable "Aunty" and having booked the complimentary shuttle to our wedding 3 months in advance and confirming the day before, the bride was 4 minutes late and the shuttle drove off in front of us! Because they had a "mix up" and double booked the farmers market and couldn't wait!! Unfortunately it's 2 star rating from me for that reason.

Best location
Location location. North shore Kauai is our favorite area in all of Hawai’i and Hanalei colony resort s the best spot. Quiet, green and lush and the beautiful water steps away. The condo is spacious and comfortably furnished. The staff are personable, happy to help and the shuttle service is a huge bonus. Shuttling to our favorite beach of tunnels was so easy as there is very limited parking. Can’t wait to come back.

My new Happy Place
Best kept secret in the north! Great low key resort ON the beach. Gorgeous grounds and spacious, clean rooms. Also on the grounds are a coffe shop/art gallery and restaurant. Great location north of Hanalei town- feels remote but a short free resort shuttle ride available to town, Tunnels beach or Haena beach park. Great staff- we will be back!

No housekeeping service
Location is great but no housekeeping. No garbage pickup from room. You need to find the trash can outside. No clean linen or towels. You need to take dirty sheets and towels to a laundry room and exchange for clean items. No vacuuming. For the price we paid I expected better service. Plus, no mention of this when we reserved the room.

Very low-key but nice resort. Offered a free shuttle to Hanalei and also Tunnels Beach, which is great for swimming and snorkeling

Ocean view and sounds!
Fabulous views of the ocean, you could hear the waves all the time. Lovely landscaping and foliage.
