Dear Amaresh and family,First of all: thank you for staying with us, it was nice having you. I hope you made it safely to your next destination. We would wish for your sake to have vacation memories not just based upon a single interaction, as there is more to the stay than just this. And I don't think it was the worst decision of yours, as there is an opportunity to learn from this. Anyway, this is for you to decide. Even though it is already in the past, please let us complete the picture you paint in your review: The incident with my brother started with you showing up with 2 more people than you had actually booked for. There is a reason we (and also the online platform you’ve booked through) ask at booking how many people you will be. Not only because our team prepares the room according to the amount of guests supposed to stay with us but also due to fire safety reasons, the amount of food we have to order (f.ex. for breakfast), extra towels, linen, sheets, visitor's tax to be paid to the commune, guest cards and so on. For you it was "normal" that you book for less people and show up with more. It is not in Switzerland. There are rules (and I am pretty sure also in most other countries). For us, a person not following these rules implies, that one wants to cheat with their booking, in order to save the extra cost an additional person would raise. It is thus us, who is to bear the cost if there are more people staying at the hotel than actually pay for it. And this is not how it works here. Thanks for understanding that this causes frustration, as we had exactly the same case the previous day with another family of 6 who only booked for 4 – other guests did not get any croissants for breakfast f.ex. because of this and I think this is not fair. It is important for us that you get our point here as other hotels, where you will be staying in the future, will most certainly appreciate an honest booking as preparation is key to facilitate a nice stay for our guests. If there are changes to the booking one can always let the hotel know.And regarding the mentioning of your daughter: when there are children plucking apart the decoration we do intervene, yes. We think if there is a mutual understanding of what caused the incident, we can put this behind us, learn something and you can think back to the nice memories you have from Grindelwald.I wish you all the best.Kind regards,Matthias Michel

Dear JonathanYes, this is all correct. We are so happy that we found our young and passionate kitchen team. They work so hard, they definitely deserve a weekend off like everyone else. For this reason, the restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday and we recommend booking for the other nights. Like most hotels in the mountain regions in Switzerland we don't have an AC. If this is a must for you we recommend to check the amenities list before booking or to contact the hotels in advance to ask about it. Climate change is bringing unusual heat waves even to the mountain regions. But for the moment, the few warm nights in Grindelwald do not justify the installation of air conditioning (which requires a lot of electricity and is therefore not really sustainable and would only make the problem worse...). We are sorry that you were bothered by cars. We normally expierence our end of the town to be quieter especially during the night - so do other guests (see other reviews). Also the bus stops running at 7pm. Nethertheless,, we recommend our superior sunset, our panoramic sunset or our cosy room for your next stay, as we sincerely hope you will come back to try our restaurant and see how our small family business is evolving.
