This property gave me nostalgia of my grandparents' farm cabin except this cottage has plumbing. I loved the memories it revived in me. It's an old house in a sleepy town. The area can feel a little creepy in the evenings if you aren't used to the quiet, the crows, or rural blue collar people. We walked to a restaurant for dinner and bought snacks at the grocery store. It was very safe, although, we joked how we felt we were on a movie set for a horror film. I loved the experience. The next morning we walked to breakfast, and the town was more lively with people. We tried the cafe on the main road but it was full and busy. We saw a sign at the street corner pointing us to another small café behind the busy one, called Amillia's. Our meals and coffee were delicious. Go there. Beds were comfortable for 2 men and two teenagers. Having a shower in the freestanding tub with the window open in the bathroom was refreshing. It's nothing fancy but there were personal touches throughout like complementary lemongrass soap, fountain in the private yard, and dog items for people with pets. The location was great. The town had restaurants and groceries (most things close by 8:30-9pm) you can walk to from here. There were a few gas stations too. We did all our hiking and exploring of the avenue of the giants from here.
