Checked in on 2/18/26, front desk was super nice.
But we soon discovered bedbugs. Didn't want to believe the worst, but a Google image search with our magnified photos confirmed multiple individual bugs at various stages in their life cycle—an established population that didn’t magically appear when we arrived. As we bagged our clothes and gathered our things to leave we saw a cockroach on the *outside* of the microwave, which we hadn’t even touched.
When I notified the front desk, his responses were “it is not possible to have bedbugs on my property,” and “let’s go up to the room and look together.” Nope. Sorry, not going to debate what we’ve seen ourselves or have reality mansplained to me. I returned the key and we left.
I contacted Expedia, but since I’d opted to ‘pay at property’ the manager had sole discretion regarding any refund or compensation. Expedia contacted the property on my behalf, but unfortunately the manager refused to give me anything. Expedia gave me a small credit, very much appreciated.
Going forward, pay-at-property limits options, so I wouldn’t choose that again. Will also reconsider Motel 6. I travel a lot and haven’t had any problems in the past, but recently have had a couple issues at different M6 properties in different states. I’ll be booking elsewhere.
