Welcome to our beautiful year round cabin on Eagles Nest Lake, located between Tower and Ely Minnesota. Enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking or just a relaxing swim in the summer. Winter brings ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing right from your back door. What ever the season, you can end your day in our sauna or sit by the fire pit roasting marshmallows while listening to the call of the loons. Cabin has fabulous views of the lake from the dining room, living room and lower level family room. Step out onto the deck from the upstairs living room to enjoy a meal or game.

With approximately 1700 square feet of living space combined on two levels, your group will not feel cramped. Downstairs area includes bedroom with queen size bed and full bathroom. Also a futon and TV in living area, with game table and electric sauna. Walk out to patio with picnic table and BBQ grill. Upstairs includes bedroom with queen size bed, full bathroom, dining area, fully stocked kitchen, including microwave, dish washer, coffee pot, toaster, electric griddle, waffle iron, deep fryer, crock pot and electric roaster. Living area upstairs has gas fireplace, 42 inch HD TV with Dish satellite and DVD player, games and puzzles. Cabin also includes internet with WIFI.

Cabin plumbing is a filtered lake water system, so we recommend guests use bottled water for drinking and/or cooking. There is an electric water cooler for cold water only inside the cabin. This cooler holds the 3-5 gallon jugs. Water is not furnished by owner.

Outdoor amenities include fire pit, lounge chairs, 10ft row boat, (no motor),and 2 canoes all with paddles and various sizes of life vests. We strongly encourage the use of life vests, especially with children and the non-swimmer.

Eagles Nest Lakes #1 and #2 are 730 acres combined, connected by a 75 foot channel. Clarity is 20+ feet with a maximum depth of approximately 76 feet. Fish information can be found on the Minnesota DNR website. Area attractions include Bear Head Lake State Park, Soudan Underground Mine State Park, Ely shopping and restaurants, Fortune Bay Casino, International Wolf Center, North American Bear Center, Dorothy Molter Museum, Kawishiwi Falls, Boundary Waters Canoe area, Ely Golf Course, Miniature Golf, hiking and biking trails, bird watching.

Nice Lakefront Cabin

We really enjoyed the cabin at the lake. It is furnished in nice, rustic cabinstyle and had everything we needed during our stay. We loved going to near Bear Head State Park for hiking or renting a motorboat. In the evening we enjoyed the fireplace next to the lake and on one colder day we also used the sauna. Another wonderful stay at Mark and Chellney's homey cabin. We so appreciate the family room downstairs and living room upstairs with bathrooms on each floor. Gives us our own personal space at the end of the day. New comfortable leather couch. Slept well in the cozy beds. Fans provided on the screened windows. Mosquitos prevalent as expected this time of year and in this area of Minnesota. Off was provided. We bring a thermacell to aid with dissuading those nasty buggers. On arrival, we were greeted by a doe. What a way to start a vacation! We saw more deer, to include 3 fawns with one doe, loons, woodpeckers, squirrels and 2 black bears ... Enjoyed watching the wild thunderstorm from the many windows. Amenities galore. Kitchen is well stocked with pots/pan, dishes, utensils and lots of spices. Multiple life jackets to include a dog lifejacket that would have fit our 30 # dog, but we had our own. We bring our electric motor and use it with the provided rowboat now with seat cushions. Canoes also available. Forgot my camping hammock. No problem, they have a provided hammock and lounge chairs. Water temperature of this very clear lake was 72 degrees. Great for swimming and playing but sucked for fishing. We were skunked this trip. But usually catch bass and northerns. Rocks are slippery on entrance to the lake. Recommend wearing water socks. Area great for floating and paddleboarding. We love staying at this woodsy cabin. Thanks again for sharing your home!

Mid summer vacation

Winter Wonderland

This is ur 3rd trip to this property, but 1st winter one. We enjoyed perfect temperatures and snow conditions for snowshoeing, ice fishin, exploring Ely and points beyond along with relaxing in the well appointed cabin enjoying the ambiance of the fireplace. Great gosts and wonderful communication.

The cabin was nice, however, we had an issue with mice in the place. They were everywhere and we had to go and buy traps. When I asked to be reimbursed the $17 for them, I did not get a response. The owners did credit us back $200 of our $1200. They had bait boxes so mice had been an issue in the past. Time for a professional exterminador.We will not stay there again. Sauna wouldn’t get hot enough even after following the warm up time.

Sep '24 Retreat

This is our second stay and it feels like a home away from home. Chellney and Mark are great and responsive hosts and the property is clean, comfortable, has a well-appointed kitchen and easy lake access. It is also centrally located to many attractions, hiking/biking trails, and towns. We are already planning our third visit.

Lovely stay

This was our 4th stay and the first under the new owners management. We really appreciated the updates like the new windows, landscaping, chairs by the fire pit and the cleaning up of the shoreline. It was a clean and comfortable stay for our week in the area. Being so close to Bear Head State Park is a plus. Enjoyed viewing the friendly deer in the yard on most days. I’m sure that we will be back for a 5th stay.

Ely Vacation

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The views of the lake were awesome and location was fairly close to everything we wanted to do and very close to Bear Head Lake State Park where we did some hiking. The cabin is just as the pictures show, was very comfortable and would definitely stay there again. The cabin is well supplied and the kitchen had everything we needed, was probably the best supplied kitchen we have had.

Family vacation

The cabin is wonderful and filled with everything we needed to spend a week with our family. The bedrooms and futon were comfortable. Eagles Nest Lake is a wonderful "BWCA" type lake, quiet, lots of wildlife. 15" from ELy or Tower. This was our second visit.

Wonderful updated lakeside cabin

Modernized and well cared for cabin directly on Eagles Nest lake. Near Soudan mine, Ely and its attractions, and Mesabi Trailhead. Bearhead Lake state park 10 min away. With bedroom and bath upstairs and bedroom and bath downstairs very private for 2 couples or parents and children. Wifi and Dish TV if rainy. Only wish there was a washer and dryer.

Eagles Nest Property

We stayed in the late spring, so were unable to fully use the water access and boats, but loved our stay anyway. It’s a close(ish) drive to either Ely or Tower but more important to us was the super close access to Bear Head Lake State Park (right down the road) and the Mesabi Trail (which doubles as the NCT at this location). While hiking and exploring near the property we saw lots of wildlife and we were able to see a great northern lights show one night. It’s a good property for the price and we enjoyed staying.

Northwoods Retreat

This property was as advertised and owners responded swiftly to communications throughout the booking/stay process. We appreciated the well-appointed kitchen as we prepared all our meals there. The living space was comfy/cozy during our down time where we appreciated access to satellite TV and strong WiFi. We also enjoyed the quietness of the property, beauty of the lake, use of canoes/kayaks, ever present Loon calls, daily deer sightings, and close proximity to all Ely has to offer.

Amazing!

This place has everything you need. Beautiful view of the lake, great firepit, plenty of water equipment such as canoes, kayaks, life jackets, paddles, etc. Wildlife every morning in the yard. But no bears which I was hoping for. 😬 Cabin was cleaned and very comfortable. The only thing lacking was nicer weather, but thats Ely. Will be back next year!

Enjoying the wildlife

Spent a pleasant, relaxing week at the cozy cabin. Mama deer and her 2 fawns visited daily. Other wildlife included woodpeckers, fox, humingbirds, squirrels... We caught northern, perch, bass and saw a bear while fishing. Enjoyed the provided water toys, boat and canoes. Cabin nicely furnished, appreciated separate living spaces: living room upstairs and rec room downstairs. Books, puzzles, coloring and games aplenty. Kitchen well stocked with cooking supplies. Great location

We really enjoyed our stay at this peaceful little cabin. With full bathrooms on both levels, it was just enough room for us, our dog, and our daughter and her husband. Families with children will also like having a downstairs family room where the kids can gather. The cabin was quite clean, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you might need. There was even a rolling pin! The lake is right at your back door, and canoes/kayaks are provided. It’s an easy drive into Ely. I highly recommend this place if you want a Northwoods experience!
