8/10 – Gut

I recently stayed at Hayden Hall Hotel in Eastbourne for two nights as a solo traveller. The location is fantastic – just steps from the seafront promenade, and only a 5-minute walk to the town centre. There’s also a nearby bus stop with connections to Brighton and other towns, and the train station is about 8–10 minutes away.
The hotel has a charming exterior and a peaceful atmosphere. The reception and housekeeping staff were very friendly, and check-in was quick and easy. My single room on the third floor was small but had everything I needed: private bathroom, towels, soap, hairdryer, and a lovely sash window for fresh sea air. The hotel was quiet at night, which I appreciated.
However, the room showed signs of wear. The carpet was stained and in need of deep cleaning or replacement. A used teaspoon had been left behind, and the duvet cover had a couple of small stains. The lift was very cramped, dusty, and outdated – not suitable for anyone with claustrophobia or hygiene concerns.
Overall, it’s a decent budget option for 1–3 nights, especially for solo travellers. The great location and fair price make it a reasonable choice, though some updates and better attention to cleanliness would greatly improve the experience.
