The Colonels Retreat is located in a very quite area. Perfect to relax after the hussle in the city. The staff is very friendly and the room absolutely clean and comfy.

Elegant, clean and very good service.
Our stay was very pleasent from the time we arrived. The staff welcomed us and made us feel comfortable. We had a early check in, our room was ready when we arrived. The breakfast is a combonation indian and continental. The metro is about 10min by walk. After spending a long day in the hustle and bussle of Delhi, we could relax on the rooftop garden having our glass of bier. The neighbourhood is quite. We checked out very early in the morning at 4:30. The staff had packed breakfast for us. We would definetly stay here again when we are in Delhi.

Ruhig, sehr sauber, persönlich, dezentral mit sehr guter Metro Anbindung
Trotz verspäteter Ankunft (3.30 statt 19.30) freundliche Aufnahme. Das Frühstücksangebot und das aufmerksame Service ist Spitze! Lage sehr ruhig. Wenn Familien im Haus sind wäre ein Zimmer am gleichen Stockwerk eher ungünstig, da die Zimmer rund um einen Gemeinschaftraum angeordnet sind, was andererseits auch bei anderer Belegung einen herzlichen Kommunikationsgewinn und familiäre Atmosphäre mit sich bringt. Die Nähe zur Metro, zum Markt und vielen Top-Restaurants in Gehweite ( oder dem TukTuk) ist angenehm. Nicht ganz billig, aber es ist den Preis wert!

Familiäre Atmosphäre
Die Pension ist eine gute Basis für einen entspannten Aufenthalt in Delhi. Ein Wohnhaus in der Mittelklasse-Wohngegend wurde als Gästehaus eingerichtet. Morgens sitzen alle Gäste zusammen am großen Frühstückstisch. Den Defense-Colony Market erreicht man in 10 Minuten zu Fuß - dort gibt es gute Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Ein guter und überschaubarer Einstieg für Indien-Neulinge. Es ist eine Pension, kein Hotel - man sollte keine großen "Extras" wie Bar, Gym, beheizte Spiegel oder ähnlichen Schnick-Schnack erwarten. Dafür familiäre Atmossphäre, wirkliche Hilfe der Betreiber, Sauberkeit und alles funktioniert. Es ist für eigentlich für Indien für den Standard den es bietet zu teuer (ich habe 55,- Euro bezahlt) - aber wem es nicht auf 20,- Euro mehr oder weniger ankommt kann sich hier gut zurückziehen.

Great location in Delhi The staff were so helpful nothing too much trouble. The owners also so helpful and knolgeable providing the personal touch which demonstates how much they care about their guest. The food is excellent and I highly recommend the Colonel Retreat

A homely, well-run and clean place with efficient, polite and helpful staff. Excellent location, close to main centres of activity. Wifi is good but cell phone connectivity is a major issue.

Cozy, homey and professional
My second stay at the Colonel’s Retreat and am just as satisfied. Great place to unwind at the rooftop restaurant with a chilled beer beneath the stars. The person who took us in and served us lovely fresh lime sodas and cheese sandwiches deserves a special mention, unfortunately i forget his name. I feel i must mention here that some of the kitchen staff were less than helpful when asked to provide glutenfree options. I felt i was imposing on them and they were uncooperative. However, it was a lovely stay overall.

Good
Very nice hotel everything was clean compare to other hotels. The only problem they had a lot of mosquitoes for some reason they have to take care of that. I think its because too much plants. I recommend they get rid of plants because indian mosquitoes are not safe. There were a lot of mosquitoes repellent but didn't help much. Other than mosquitoes best place and device loved it. I want to go again please remove that plants so no more mosquitoes.

We are located in a green leafy area with lots of trees and hence the mosquito problem in a certain season. Another week or so and they will all be gone due to the heat.

Far away from the hustle but a quick metro ride to the sights. Fabulous breakfasts on the terrace with an easy cater for a gluten free person. Great rooms, clean and spacious. Delhi under-rated as a tourist destination - and plenty of great advice about what to see.

From the moment I arrived the staff made me feel welcomed and appreciated. The airline lost my luggage, I was hungry and exhausted when I arrived. The staff offered tea while they prepared lunch and I settled in my room. They continued to assist with locating my luggage until it was delivered the following day. Delicious breakfast on the rooftop terrace. Very comfortable bef, hot shower, free wi-ri, toiletries and EXCELLENT customer service! I highly recommend a stay here.

Comfortable Stay
We were well taken care of at the Colonels Retreat. The place is located in a quite neighborhood in chaotic Delhi which we appreciated.The place is clean and well serviced. The hosts checked in with us every morning and the staff took care of all our requests. A real treat and great value for money. As a recommendation for other travelers, we found taxi services hailed via OLA and Uber to be cheaper than the ones arranged by the guesthouse for airport drops.

A home away from home
This exquisitely furnished homely property is well maintained and located in a tree lined quiet suburb of Delhi. staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed for 3 nights, the shopping areas are easily accessible and close by and transport are within easy reach. It does not have the trappings of a hotel but offers a warm, comfortable homestay in well appointed clean rooms.

A quiet and friendly perch in a busy city
Colonel's Retreat is in a quiet and leafy enclave away from the bustle of Delhi, but close enough to the Metro to make easy forays. The staff is welcoming and the rooms are comfortable, opening to a nice common room on each floor. Breakfast is good, featuring their famous banana bread. I had dinner there and it was also excellent and reasonably priced. It is so secluded that drivers might have a hard time locating it (mine did), but they will eventually. The availability of the Metro is extremely important. Delhi street traffic is horrendous.

Good clean rooms with en-suite. Staff very, very accommodating. Nothing to much trouble, evening meals can be arranged. Would recommend it to friends as the place to stay. Cost very good, approximately A$60 per night, bed and breakfast. Ideal base for a trip to the Taj Mahal.

Very helpful staff - we had a late flight out of Delhi on the day of check out and after a day of sightseeing in 43 degree heat they kindly let us use a sister property's shower free of charge and prepared a delicious dinner for us before we left! Property is in a quiet area with nice restaurants and public transport nearby.

Staff and owner Were fantastic and nothing too much trouble!! Several single girls staying and the place felt very safe and welcoming . The ground floor room could be a bit noisy and my father could have done with a bigger bed as both of us had twin rooms. Ask for a double bed !! A generally positive experience.
The room was not especially spacious but spacious enough for two. The bathroom was very large. But the overall comfort was just delightful as were the staff and the food at the roof top restaurant. The owner is a gentleman of the old school and ensures that one is well treated but it does not seem to take much effort as all the staff are keen to assist with anything. We could basically ask for anything from railway bookings to a taxi and it would be swiftly taken care of. Very pleased indeed and will be heading back there.

Friendly atmosphere and quality stay
Colonel's Retreat is a charming guesthouse. We had a nice, quiet room, fairly basic but it served the purpose. The guesthouse was convenient to our needs and in a good neighborhood. The Colonel was there and was quite a gentleman, as are the owners, his child (daughter?) and spouse. The common areas were comfortable as well as offering good meeting space.

Great Homely Stay
Very nice , welcoming and homely place. Staff and owners could not do enough for you . Excellent food .Well connected and 5 minutes away from the metro station. The only minor criticism is that there should be a sign in the lounges stating that when arriving late or sitting in the shared leaving rooms,people should be aware others are sleeping /resting ,as to keep loud talking to the minimum... I would go back if I ever go back to Delhi .

Colonels Retreat is a small comfortable clean Bed and breakfast located in a quite neighbourhood of Defence colony. I found this property is bit difficult to find especially when you are checking at night, suggest to display at least the hotels name outside. All staffs are very polite and helpful especially Mr. Kamalesh. Breakfast is good fresh but monotonous if you are staying for more than 2-3 days, it would be nice if little more verity can be added. Overall a comfortable stay and like to repeat.

This place is lovely, quaint rooftop dining and bar. Great staff. One in my group dropped her forex envelop with all her cash upon arrival and discovered it only in the morning when she awoke. We asked the staff fearing the worst and to our great surprise, they found it, kept it and returned it intact. Rare.

A good place to stay, but the more experience you have with them the more you notice gaps and flaws - the inconsistent and there is one supervisor in particular who drives the other staff nuts and guests as well. He doesn't listen, contradicts what other staff promised & even charged me for extra drinking water. The breakfast menu should also be updated - it's uninteresting and the banana bread on a daily basis is just unhealthy. better Indian flatbread options would also be nice - the oil laden offer now available isn't an option for people with a healthy lifestyle.

Location is calm and quiet yet within walking distance from a metro station. The hotel is very well maintained and comfortable. The staff were excellent; very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Excellent choice for staying in Delhi.

Splendid time. Hugh-end location, safe to walk around the area and a nice park is nearby. The metro is about ten minutes away and two gyms are in close proximity. Very clean and homely.

The perfect place to stay in New Delhi
We couldn't have asked for more - clean, lovely, welcoming - delicious food - ambience - comfortable - lovely rooms, terrific service - always with a smile - location - perfect - close to train and local shopping center with many restaurants; Our stay here ended up being much longer than expected after daughter fell ill; (bad food in Varanasi) they took us to the local private hospital - 5 minutes away - stayed with us until patient was in bed in lovely international patient's ward; Simply could not have asked for better service -both from hotel staff and hospital; I'm leaving the country and feel very comforted that I'm leaving my 21 year old daughter here at Colonel's Retreat until full recovery. She's in great hands and comfortable. Who could ask for more? Definitely The Place to stay while travelling in New Delhi.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Colonel's Retreat for 4 nights in February/March. Delhi was the first of 4 cities we visited and this b&b was by far the best place we stayed in. We were welcomed with tea/coffee and their homemade banana bread which is to die for! Complimentary breakfast on the roof was the best way to start our days. There were plenty of options including eggs, dosas, fresh fruit, and of course the delicious banana bread. The owners actually introduced themselves at breakfast our 2nd day and were so kind to offer their driver to take us to the nearby Lodi Gardens at no cost. The hotel is incredibly clean, including the room, ensuite bathroom and the bed sheets and towels that were provided. The bed was the most comfortable we had during our trip. Our room was cleaned every day so we'd come back to a tidy room with new towels, refilled water bottles and fresh sheets after sightseeing. We left for the airport super early (before sunrise) and the staff was kind enough to pack breakfast for us to eat on the way. The hotel was in a quiet, nice upscale residential neighborhood in South Delhi and a little hard to find especially for tuc tuc drivers when coming back at night but this was just a small inconvenience. If we visit Delhi again next time we're in India I will without a doubt stay here again!
