Daufuskie Family Retreat—on the best lake in Melrose Resort
Sleeps 12; rental includes one ELECTRIC golf cart (No Gas Carts allowed at this home), and access to a paddleboard (at your request). We want to save you the hassle of renting them; its all about relaxing and retreating when you choose to stay in our home.

NOTE: It is necessary to take a ferry to Daufuskie Island, and the cost of the boat and ground transportation is around $90 per person roundtrip.

Gorgeous vacation house nestled in the mossy oaks and pine trees of Melrose Resort. Relax and unwind with your family or friends as you leisurely tour the island that time forgot on either a golf cart, bikes, or comfortable shoes. Honestly, there's no better place for lovely long walks! In less than ten minutes at a slow walking pace, you arrive at the Atlantic Ocean and Calibogue Sound. You have plenty of shorelines to explore, and sunrises are worth taking in.

The wildlife is abundant and breathtaking. The resort is the home of a Great White Egret rookery, where you will see these graceful birds settle in for the night. A nest of American Bald Eagles can be seen now and then, and some lucky visitors can catch sight of a Loggerhead Turtle coming ashore to lay hundreds of eggs in the soft sand.
If you're looking for a low-key beach vacation experience without the crowds and noise, this house will exceed your expectations. You will want to explore the rest of this unique and special island. Accessible only by ferry, Daufuskies isolation from the hustle and bustle of the mainland provides a one-of-its-kind experience for those looking to truly get away from it all. You step back in time and learn to unwind and relax. We like to think that the souls pace is finally slowed to where it functions best here on Daufuskie Island. Your family will have the opportunity to connect as you retreat in our beautiful home.

For sleeping, on the main level, you will find the “Captains Quarters,” with a King bed. A smaller room with a full-sized bed looks out to the front of the house. The third main floor room has queen bed and we suggest you sleep with the shades pulled up so that you wake up to the tranquility of the lake. All three main floor bathrooms have a shower and bathtub. Upstairs the large ensuites are on each end of the house. One room has two queen beds and the other has two full-sized beds. The loft has shelves of
books and games and a small desk.

There is an extra refrigerator and pantry space near the laundry room on the main floor so that you have ample space to bring in your groceries and meals.
A golf cart is included with your vrbo booking for your use during your stay. Information for reserving additional carts at a discounted rate will be provided at booking.
GAS CARTS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT THIS HOME and Carts are NOT to be used for hauling luggage, groceries, coolers, etc.
