We loved our stay at the Colt's Neck Inn while attending a birthday party nearby. It felt welcoming and personal the minute we walked in with fresh flowers, old-style wood paneling, scented candles burning on the reception counter. We enjoyed sitting by the electric fireplace in cozy chairs while looking at the GPS. The breakfast room had a cupboard with board games that guests were welcome to bring up to their rooms.
Cookies, tea & coffee were available 24/7. Our room had a King bed with firm mattress, antique leather daybed, beaded lampshades, small fridge & microwave. Best of all was the fresh red rose on the bedside table and a pink floating rosebud by the bathroom sink. The shower curtain was a nice quality fabric print. the tub was deep. Water was super hot! What a pleasant change from the institutional decor of chain hotels.
We enjoyed the grand staircase going up to a landing with an oversize vintage velvet sofa and classic wicker loveseat, and more book nooks.
It's a pet friendly hotel so there were cat and dog treats in glass jars by the reception desk. When we left for the party it was pouring rain so the receptionist loaned us an oversize umbrella.
After the party we wanted to watch TV but the screen said no signal. The in-room phone worked, I called reception and it was fixed pronto. We ended up playing scrabble instead.
Above par breakfast - bagels, muffins, waffles, fruit, yoghurt, maple syrup and Nutella. Friendly atmosphere all around.
