This was an excellent choice for an overnight stay. The staff was so friendly at the inn. The restaurant was also great. Coming from NY going out to eat where everything is rushed and staff always seem stressed, I don’t usually enjoy eating out. But here the staff was extremely friendly, the food was great and nothing was rushed. We stayed in the suite with two separate sleep areas and a river view… I highly recommend.

We stay at Common Man about once a year. We love the large rooms and the quality of the linens. It is up in a safe area of town with its own restaurant and other restaurants within walking distance. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Love the Common Man Inn!

The walkway around Sugar River with the waterfall was something very nice. Also Claire the house cat was a welcome addition. The breakfast could be improved with better sandwiches and our room location #115 did not give us privacy unless we kept the shades down all the time. The restaurant was good, but overpriced for what it was. All in all a good experience.

Beautiful renovated mill building inn and restaurant along the river. Lovely appointed rooms reflect the mill history. Many historical Claremont photos in halls and common areas. Attentive staff! Friendly inn kitty. Highly recommend the restaurant food and staff as well. We’ll be back.

We were happily surprised when we stayed at The Common Man Inn for the first time. Friendly staff, very clean, fun and funky decor (in keeping with The Common Man restaurants) and a wonderful continental breakfast. Love the old mill building architecture. Having The Common Man restaurant right next door is a bonus. Highly recommend both!

We stayed in the Stone Suite which was lovely. We especially liked the old foundation stones and bedrock that were preserved in the lower bedroom and bathroom walls. The view of the mill falls through the windows was beautiful and reminded one why the old mill was built on the river. The lobby was warm and inviting and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this property.

Excellent service!
The Common Man is a lovely place to stay! The front desk was excellent and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Catherine was amazing and ensured we had everything we needed! The king room with the river view is spacious and has a beautiful view of the river. The restaurant had great service and the food was excellent! We loved the pub area where they have games available to play while you have a drink. Overall, great stay- we will be back!

This was a great find. A skillfully and beautifully converted old mill. Just modern enough, just enough old mill. Bedding, towels and bath amenities were excellent. TV has cable and smart functions, easy to cast from your devices. On site dining was also very good in a connected 2nd mill building that was also a nice rehab. I wish we could have gotten a king room but apparently they were unavailable. The river dam behind the building seemed a bit noisy but it was actually soothing and relaxing. Not sure what the other Common Man properties are like but Claremont is top notch. If I had to complain about anything it would be the short walk to the parking garage. It snowed overnight and it was a messy walk.

We stayed at the Common Man for two nights, midweek. We arrived a little earlier than expected, and though we couldn't get early check-in (we didn't ask in advance and even so they apologized that the room was not ready for us). When we did return the check-in was prompt and easy (just be sure to have you license and car info ready). The room was clean and spacious. The TV was not working, and someone came within about 15-20 minutes to resolve the issue. The hot tub was great for apres-ski soaking. The continental breakfast was nice - the muffins (especially the chocolate ones) were delicious. We didn't feel like walking far after skiing, so we ate at the restaurant both nights. The first night the food was mediocre. The next night we both really enjoyed our meals and drinks. Lots of puzzles & games in the lobby area - we got hooked in by a puzzle the first night and stayed up way too late trying to finish it but we got it done before we left! Claire, the lobby cat, supervised our progress (though we think she may have been responsible for the missing pieces!). While working on the puzzle we overheard other guests checking in & out, and it definitely seems like they have regular clients and give them that extra personal touch. It has the charm and character of a quaint family-style Inn, with the amenities of a larger hotel. Only minor negative was off-site parking, which was a short walk away (though it was nice to have the garage to keep snow off!)

Can’t wait to return
Staying at the Common Man Inn was fantastic. From the ambience in the lobby (work on a jigsaw puzzle by the fire, say hi to the resident cat) to the welcoming staff who were full of recommendations about what to eat in the restaurant and where to get a drink, to the cozy, clean room, it could not have been better and I will be sure to return soon!

This is an awesome hotel to stay at for regional skiing etc. It is part of a mill complex from the 1830s and the surrounding area oozes charm! The concierge Catherine was the nicest front desk person I have ever met and went the extra mile every time!! Really nice hot tub situation as well!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The only thing that was disappointing was the fact that the restaurant was closed on the two days we were there. This was one of the reasons we stayed there. We did not know about this until we checked in. Everything else was excellent! We would definitely go back but not on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The lobby is nice, warm and inviting, although ideally the fire would have been going. Interesting building. Nice that they have treats to buy. The continental breakfast is generous. On the downside, the bedroom decor is odd. Rustic meets Chinese. TV is way too small for a big room and almost no channels. Should have standard cable at minimum.

The property is an old mill building with brick walls and hardwood floors. It's absolutely adorable. The room was large and clean, with a view of the Sugar River. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There's even an inn cat that you can invite into your room if you want. I didn't make it to breakfast, but a colleague who was also staying there said it was wonderful. The inn was within walking distance to my meeting, and several shops and restaurants. I'm planning to visit the area again just so I can stay at the inn.
