Build a beautiful resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bikes, because Buxton’s unique shops, restaurants, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD vehicle - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). This is an excellent two-bedroom condo with one-and-a-half baths. The interior has been professionally-decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.

THINGS TO KNOW
You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check-in until we have received your signature electronically.
Guests can enjoy access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details around this facility will be shared in your check-in email and during the check-in process. The club is typically open Mid-May to Mid-October, depending on weather.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us.

Perfect location

This is the second time staying in this complex. The houses are reasonably priced, pet friendly, and steps away from the ocean. Located one block away from the lighthouse entrance to ramp 48, and minutes between Hatteras and Avon.

Property is very dated we realize it was at the end of rental season but it could have been cleaner. Holes in the wall holes in the bathroom wall dirty lights the back of the doors are dirty looks like they hit the vacuum and cleaned a little but we ended up cleaning. They left the bag of dirty linen downstairs but yet required us to put all of our linen in the Box and require us almost to clean the whole place before we left the location was excellent that was about the only thing they had going

Overall was a great stay. Close to the beach.

This was a great place to stay. We could see the ocean and just steps away from the beach. The lighthouse was our backyard view. I am giving an overall rating of 4 stars. A few things that could help with the next stay and I would stay here again. Does have a musty smell. Needs some maintenance done (holes in shower, peeling paint in shower. Broken or missing pieces in kitchen. Bi-fold doors in bedrooms falling apart. Porch needs a good cleaning and treated. One suggestion is to provide a few amenities like a hair dryer, beach towels. Beach chairs or information on renting beach chairs. The pool that is listed is about 6 miles away and not in the area we stayed.

Nice stay, but needs some renovation. Black moled on the vent in 3rd floor bathroom, all blinds needs to replaced, holes in the walls and ceiling need to fixed due to water damage in living area.

Location was great!

While the location was great, the rental company neglected to leave us enough bath towels. When I emailed them, they provided me a list of what should have been there and told me they might be able to send more later in the week. Sadly, I never got any more assistance and had to purchase extra towels.

It was a good location although I didn't get to check in until 4 pm for a day I paid for then had to be out at 10 am on a day I paid for so technically between the late check in and early check out I only stayed 6 days instead of seven. There were a few issues I found a spit bottle next to the couch and onion peels in one of the drawers in the kitchen and there was some water damage in the drywall which I can fix if your interested thats what I do for a living drywall and painting sonic your interested in swapping work for a rental let me know other then that I had an awsome time the weather was great the people were great.

Nice, but.

This property had all 3 Ls: location, location and location! It was great to go to bed by the light of the Hatteras Lighthouse and to sit on the deck and watch the sun set behind it. The path from the house to the beach was also a big plus. Now the negative: the house had multiple places on the ceiling that were water damaged and not repaired as well as a hole in the wall of the shower and other damage to the walls and the TV in the living room didn't work. These were all things we could live with, but potential renters should be aware of.

Labor Day Getaway

Great location. Walking distance to a very quiet beach. Great restaurants nearby. Rusty’s was our fav. The apartment had everything we needed. A little dated by cozy. Use your GPS to find the unit The directions on the printout is incorrect. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Great location

Easy to work with rental company. Furniture and beds are pretty low-end and about as comfortable as 2-star hotel. It’s a nice location near the beach. Closed in patio is nice. Overall we were happy with our stay at Bluefish!

A nice getaway

Make sure you stop in the neighboring town of Avon for your keys - they have to be picked up from one of the rental offices which is not on property (was about 4 miles away). The townhouse was in a great location - short walk out the backyard and you are at Buxton beach access. Plenty of space, and not busy (helps to maintain social distancing). The unit itself had almost everything you need, but it was dated and could use a bit of a face lift (the beds were uncomfortable, and some of the walls needed patching and a fresh coat of paint). Kitchen and appliances were fine. Overall, had a nice time.

Cute place, close to ocean and lighthouse

The house is really nice. Better than pictures show. Very nice porches. You can sit on back porch and see ocean and lighthouse. Very easy access to ocean. Steps in house are very doable, we are in our 60’s. Communication with Hatteras Realty was very good, overall. Quick remedy to maintenance issue. The owner responded quickly, replacing screen on porch backdoor, and replacing tv remote, when it went out. Hatteras Realty was slow on communication for remote. It was fixed, they didn’t notify us, so we thought it was still out. We had to call them several times. It was fixed, however, within 2 days. I also thought Hatteras Realty should have told us they were bringing in island refuse directly behind us, because of the hurricane. I realize they couldn’t prevent that, however, when I went to office to see if perhaps they could move us, they didn’t try to make us feel any better about it. It was a big deal for me, a big part of my vacation is sitting on the porch, in peace and quiet. FEMA trucks, working from 7-7, 7 days a week. I would stay here again, I would have enjoyed it much more without the noise. The few times I sat on porch, without trucks, was blissfully quiet. The 4 star on cleanliness was because the porches were totally unprepared, chairs not wiped off, debris from storm. There was starter items, toilet paper, soap, dish soap, even though we were told there would not be.

Bluefish was wonderful~

My stay of two weeks at Bluefish was a peaceful experience. The screened in porch had a great view of the ocean and lighthouse. the kitchen was well appointed and I cooked many delicious seafood dinners. Housekeeping and maintenance were quick to respond to my (minor) requests, they did so with cheer and friendliness. I hope to return!
