Quiet location
Location was nice due to away from tourist chaos. Driveway a bit tricky but we managed with a 4Runner. Weather was just warming but there were fans in every bedroom to circulate air - big bonus for someone that is accustomed to constant ceiling fan. Good location for driving to Acadia park and a sweet lighthouse south of home where we went to watch a beautiful sunset.

Birthday & Anniversary Weekend
If anything, the property listing doesn't fully capture how much space is available. We were surprised at how big the property was! The whole place is clean and nicely decorated and we loved the kitchen especially. The location is also good, not too long of a drive to get to anything you want to do on the island. Highly recommended!

Lovely Cottage - It Felt Like Visiting Family
Vacation rental homes can sometimes feel a bit sterile, with furniture and decorations cobbled together from bargain stores. This property instead felt like we were being welcomed to stay at a favorite aunt and uncle’s home, with good quality furnishings, bedding, etc... It was cozy, warm, and comfortable in every aspect. It doesn’t feel cheap, but more like no expense was spared. Communication was also great - we had an issue with the TV and I messaged the host. The reply was almost instant, with another to have it replaced within a few hours. Proximity to Acadia was nice as well. It’s about a half hour drive to Bar Harbor and a 5 minute drive a couple short hikes along the coast. It’s also just a 5 minute drive to the Bass Harbor lighthouse, which is uncrowded and a gorgeous place to welcome the sunrise. I would stay here again and highly recommend this property.

Not so Shabby Chic
This is a neat well managed property. It has a Shabby chic decor that is well done. Located in the more remote southwest Harbor area it allows great access to this part of the island. We had a nice time and would come back to stay again. Thanks so much.

Maine Vacation
We enjoyed our stay in the brookshire cottage! The cottage was cute and quaint and we loved the location on the island. The air conditioner in the living area was a nice bonus as well. Would have loved maybe a better equipped kitchen, some of the items were rather outdated. Overall we had a great time and lovely stay!

Wonderful and cozy spot
Our family had a wonderful stay here for our most recent trip to Maine. The house is extremely clean and cozy - everything is absolutely spotless and all of the details in the home have a touch of luxury... such a relief for our family of 5 (which includes 3 small children) after long travel days and then long days exploring the island. We can't recommend this property highly enough and look forward to returning soon!

Thank you for such a detailed gracious review! I felt so bad for my guest and had to figure away to help. I started calling people I know to secure a room for 1 night. We had guest checking in at 4:00 that day otherwise we would have accommodated our guest for 1 more night. August is very busy on the island! Many people book a year in advance for August. Thanks again for such a lovely review. I am not happy if my guest are not happy. I try very hard to supply what I want when staying in someone’s home. I want guest to feel comfortable. Perfect house on the quiet side
Quaint house in the perfect location-close to everything but away from the crowds. Robin was the perfect host. The best part was how much our dog loved the chickens that came to the yard every morning! Not sure if they were part of the house but they provided endless entertainment….

Cottage should be in a magazine!
Whoever designed and decorated this most adorable cottage should be in a magazine! It is beyond comfortable yet high end touches everywhere! Very comfortable bed! Everything you need and more is here, including an overly stocked kitchen with any spice/oil/extra you need. The dog bowls and doggy goody basket are very thoughtful! Robin, the host, is so accomidating and so helpful! The firepit was so relaxing, but the tub and bath salts were heaven! The best part of our entire trip on tje island was just being at the cottage. Definitely eat at Eat A Pita!!! Love this place!

An adorable cottage, cozy and plenty of space for a family of 5. Very clean and comfortable, and very well decorated. Also well stocked with spices, kitchen supplies, etc. responsive owner. Great outdoor firepit area. It was a little farther to bar harbor than we expected, but there are some trails a short drive near by if you want to get out for a walk. We had a great stay. Very clear directions provided throughout the cottage.

Robbin went above and beyond for us!
The house is lovely and comfortable, and we loved being on the island's quiet side. It was also great to be so close to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse - it was really easy to pop over there to look at tide pools and clamber around on the rocks, which my kids love. It's also very close to Gott's market (which stocks produce and necessities), and near the town of Southwest Harbor (check out the bike rental place there - Southwest Cycle. They were great! ). Our host (Robbin) also went above and beyond for us - I left my backpack on the porch of the rental and didn't realize until I was at the airport in Bangor. I had no time to drive back and get it before my flight. She was very understanding and drove it to UPS to mail it back to me. It was so kind. We'd love to go back!

We were so glad to have Brookshire Cottage as our home away from home during our weekend on MDI. The house was adorable, super cozy, & well-equipped. Loved being on the quiet side of things & yet only a 20-30 min drive to the main entrance of Acadia. Would love to return someday.

Cute Cottage
Adorable quaint cottage on the quiet side of MDI. 25 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and Park Look Road/Acadia, but worth it!! Very close to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Cottage was the perfect retreat after long days of hiking, biking and exploring the island. Bath salts and soaking tub were a sweet treat for our tired legs. Book of Acadia on front porch gave us lots of great insight into where to explore and what to see.

Wonderful Pre-leaf peeping.
My parents, niece, puppy and myself stayed here for 2 days. Wonderful place. Lots of cute touches. So 4 people and a big dog. Living room was kind of small for all of us, but not uncomfortable so. Property manager was very responsive. Great place to stay. A little trail to the water. Less than 2 miles to the Bass Harbor lighthouse. 16 to Bar Harbor. Close but without the crowds. Would stay again.

Ready to come back to the Cottage
My husband and I are from Dallas, Texas. We have stayed in several B&Bs, luxury hotels and VRBOs across the US ranging from $250-$1250 per night. The Brookshire Cottage is by far the best experience. 1st time to Maine and to Bar Harbor (Tremont area). Cottage was just as pictured and beautifully decorated. The property itself had lush green grass, gorgeous hydrangeas, and cute pathway to firepit. Had all the bells and whistles. THANK YOU

Great stay in Maine
This property was great! Just as described. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Everything you need for cooking and grilling. Quiet location. Communication for property was prompt and easy. A short drive to Southwest Harbor for food or a coffee shop. A new little food stop/Ice cream place is just down the street by the gas station with picnic tables and live music some evenings. We really enjoyed Acadia! If you want to be a little further from the crowds this is a good place to stay. Thanks!

Beautiful Cottage for Wedding Prep
We rented this property as the central location for the wedding party to get ready the morning off the ceremony. 4 couples stayed overnight, but there would have been room for 3-4 more people. This cottage is beautiful and was a wonderful location for getting ready photos, first look, and some photos of bridal and grooms party. We enjoyed campfires each night at the fire pits but if you have more than 4 people bring some camp chairs! Location is about a half hour away from central Bar Harbor which is where the wedding was located which was great The area itself has a lot to offer close by to the cottage as well, walking distance from a lobster roll with ocean views. A great stay and would absolutely come again!

It was a nice stay, about a 30-35 minute drive to Acadia/Bar Harbor. Only thing to note is that only the living area had AC so the upstairs bedrooms got a bit warm.

Thank you for taking time to leave response. We strive to hard to satisfy our guest. Yes, we have heat pump AC downstairs. The house was built early 1900’s bungalow. The house could not accommodate a heat pump upstairs unfortunately. We provide industrial fans upstairs to help cool. Most houses in Maine do not have A/C. This house has been totally renovated and everything is new. We also have spray foam insulation for the home that keeps the house cooler. Thanks again for your input. Host Robbin

Beautiful Cottage!
This cottage has such lovely touches and nooks. Every way I looked, there was always something unique to appreciate. Our family only stayed for one night, but it was wonderful. I would recommend to others who are traveling in the area.

Well appointed cottage close to hiking trails
Great place to stay when visiting Acadia. Well appointed cottage with everything you could think of for preparing meals. Nice soaking tub for after hikes. Property manager was easily accessible if needed. Fire pit and yard was great for letting young kids run and play outdoors.

Adorable cottage!
My husband and I stayed at the Brookshire Cottage for several days and can't speak highly enough of how clean and well appointed it was....very creatively decorated with antiques and unique touches throughout...the owner has thought of everything! It is also just a 5 minute drive from the Shipwatch and Wonderland Trails which are easy trails with breathtaking views! This cottage is a quick drive to Bar Harbor but far enough away that you avoid some of the traffic of that area. Highly recommend the Brookshire Cottage!

Amazing Home!
This may well have been the best experience we have ever had renting a home. The house is absolutely stunning far beyond the pictures, the information provided was thorough, and the home was well appointed with any item you may jeed for a great vacation, from cutlery and pots and pans to spices, grills and a fireplace to boot. We were thrilled with the location being on the quiet side of the island, close to Wonderland and Bass Head Light, but far from the tourist crowds. Thank you 😊

Nice Acadia stay
