You won't have to go far to find fun as the Mill Ridge Community, a former ski resort property, boasts its own trout fishing stream, numerous hiking trails, a pool, tennis courts, a basketball court, and a clubhouse.

Combining the perfect mix of modern convenience and rustic warmth, Happy Ours' tastefully decorated interior features a spacious, open floor plan, abundant natural lighting, 180-degree views of the high country, and every comfort-of-home amenity possible. Great patio!

We greatly enjoyed time with our family. The patio was our favorite spot. Its cozy/tight space but office t and had everything we needed for our weekend stay. Pay attention to the 10 am checkout - way too early! But otherwise a great property.

Hidden Gem!

We visited the area for snow tubing to celebrate my son’s birthday and found ourselves lucky to have snagged Happy Ours for a couple of days. From the moment we drove up the driveway, we knew we made a good choice. Such a cute, cozy, comfortable, and clean cottage with all the creature comforts of home. To our delight and surprise, we were greeted with a welcome gift of snacks, assortment of beverages, and a bottle of wine from Grandfather Winery! This brought smiles to our faces & set the tone for a wonderful trip. The cottage has been updated tastefully. We loved sitting around the fire pit in the evening. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The bedrooms are quite large and the beds are super comfy. The only issue we had was the bright street light right outside the bedroom windows. There are window blinds that help some, but the light still illuminated right through them causing some sleep issues. However, if light doesn’t bother you for sleeping, this should not be a big deal. Perhaps some black out curtains would be helpful (like the ones in the living room). Also, please be careful when using the dining room table as it is a rustic wooden tabletop and I actually ended up getting a splinter under my finger nail when clearing our dinner plates (ouch!), but the table is just too darn cute to be that mad at it 😊. We would highly recommend staying at Happy Ours & hope to return soon.

Magical Family Weekend

From the moment we walked into this property, we knew we were in for a great weekend. As soon as our kids spotted the fabulous welcome bag from the owners and we turned on the easy-to-use fireplace, they declared this was the nicest place we ever stayed and that they loved the mountains (this was their first visit). This property is beautifully decorated and so well-appointed that we couldn't believe it. The rooms are spacious, but still heated up quickly on a frigid January weekend. The owners really thought of everything. And this place is so nicely located we were able to have breakfast in Banner Elk, go sledding at Beech Mountain, shopping in Valle Crucis, strolling in downtown Boone, and exploring at Grandfather Mountain, over the course of just two days, while still having plenty of time to enjoy the property itself, drinking hot cocoa and playing board games (also provided!) in front of the fire. I can't recommend Happy Ours enough!

This property more than met our expectations! The pictures really do not do the cozy feel justice. Everything was clean. Beds are ridiculously comfortable. Location is quiet but close to both Banner Elk and Boone. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone.
