Hotel gegenüber des Broadwalk/Strand
Hotel liegt direkt gegenüber des Broadwalk /Strand. Das Zimmer war geräumig, sauber und verfügte über einen Balkon. Leider bekam ich nicht, wie gewünscht ein Zimmer zur Meerseite sondern zur Poilseite /Parkplatz. Auf meine Nachfrage hin, ob ich doch noch ein Zimmer zur Meerseite haben könnte wurde mir mitgeteilt, dass Hotel sei ausgebucht und fertig. Bei der Anreise kam ein Rezeptionist zwar zur Hoteleingangstür und hielt diese auch auf, machte aber keinerlei Anstalten mir als Frau mit meinem Gepäck darunter ein grosser Koffer 23 Kg und weiteres Gepäck zu helfen und ließ mich dieses allein die Stufen hoch schleppen. Oben angekommen, nahm er mir dann ein kleies Gepäckstück ab. Der Hotel eigene Parkplatz wurde auch von nicht Gästen des Hotel benutzt und so musste ich als Gast dieses Hotels 10 $ pro Tag zahlen. Der Aussenpool ist wohl nur bis August geöffnet und war geschlossen. Auf den Fluren war es auch Nachts sehr laut, es wurde keine Rücksicht auf andere Gäste genommen.

Empfehlenswert
Alles prima, wenn man nicht mit dem Auto angereist ist, könnte die Lage etwas besser sein, liegt zwar dicht am Strand, aber wenn man mal ins Stadtgetümmel will, ist es ziemlich weit vom Schuss. Zimmer sind sehr geräumig und gut ausgestattet, zur Poolseite sogar mit Balkon. Kann man auf jeden Fall und guten Gewissens weiter empfehlen.

I just wish we’d known prior to staying that it was a drag hotel , we felt out of place and the night club was much too loud for a hotel built in 1961 that was designed to be soundproof , sleeping was a nightmare

Don't go here for sleep! The Empress doesn't hide the fact there's a club inside. The thumpings stops at two, then there seems to be a "who can slam the door loudest in the hallways from 2am til at least 9am. Good for those who pass out, hard to just fall asleep. Location's great, place is clean and the housekeeping staff was extremely helpful and nice.

It’s a block from the beach. The rooms are large. Front desk arriving was nice but a female was a little rude in the night and morning saying she was The Manager when another man who was very nice already told me he was. She hid lots so I had to wait at an empty front desk. They put out coffee and grocery store muffins, in the morning and bread and the cheese cheese baby containers and cream cheese in the morning. Across the street and a couple blocks away are some restaurants it’s really next to the boardwalk. You do have a great lobby if you need to meet a friend. Children are not allowed to stay here and at night it turns into a nightclub which you can go free with pool tables, alcohol, games and drag shows. It did not bother my sleep or room which was quiet. There is no refrigerator or microwave in the room. It is likely fun in the summer when the pool is open. The male manager was extraordinary nice and a woman named Kristen and another young girl with blue eyes. It was very thin girl with dark hair and dark eyes that was snobby and a little rude and you could not find her at the desk when she was supposed to be working. Maybe she was high.

Great location, quiet rooms (even with a nightclub downstairs), super accommodating staff. We had a sink issue at check-in and Ryan got us switched to a new room right away AND brought us a mini-fridge at our request.

Not so great this time
This was a dicey stay this trip. I have stayed here many times but I must have forgotten there were no microwave or fridge. Didn't get the room I requested. "Oh you must have booked it through Expedia." Well, no I didn't. Water not available in the vending machines. No sound on the TV. I stay there cause it's close to the Pony. But I don't know about the next time...

My three night stay at the Empress was excellent. The staff is very friendly. They called me in advance to let me know that the elevator was out of service and they were waiting for a replacement part. I really appreciated that. My double queen room was spacious and clean. The front desk provided a mini fridge upon my request. The Friday night drag show was excellent. I took advantage of the complimentary continental breakfast on Sunday-bagels, yogurt and more. Just be aware that if you stay here there is a club on the first floor and if you are in a room on that side of the hotel you’ll hear music till wee hours. I was in town for music and partying so it did not bother me in the least! Kevin, the bartender, was a real sweetheart.

The Beat Goes On
the only thing that was a little disappointing was the fact that we had requested a room not over the party room. We were on the 3rd floor and could still hear the pounding beat of the music. Fortunately, we got back to the room after 1 AM and by the time we settled down to go to sleep the beat had stopped. The rates are good, the room is clean and the staff is amazing!! We will be back.

This is an old building, it reminded me (fondly) of my grandparents’ homes and it helped me relax for the evening. There is a sort of… vintage feel to the place although the lobby of VERY modern and updated. The staff was wonderful and sweet and I appreciated their hospitality.
