Escape to the mountains in this warm and inviting adobe-style studio perfectly situated between Taos (20 min), Arroyo Seco (5 min), and Taos Ski Valley (15 min). Set in a quiet community at the mouth of the canyon, the Ristra Studio offers stunning views, authentic Southwest charm, and immediate access to some of Northern New Mexico’s best skiing, hiking, art, and food.

The studio is located in a quiet, rural community at the base of the canyon to Taos Ski Valley.


You’ll access the home via a keypad entry (each reservation receives a unique code). The front door entryway is shared with the two neighboring studios, but your interior studio unit is completely private.

A 4WD/AWD vehicle is recommended for the dirt road leading to the property, especially during winter. Snow tires are encouraged in snowy months.

Step inside and experience classic Southwest design: Saltillo tile, traditional viga beams, a hand-painted mural, and a large, wood-burning kiva fireplace that creates the perfect mountain ambience.

A sliding glass door opens onto your private balcony overlooking the Rio Hondo Valley. Enjoy outdoor bistro seating, a lounge chair, string lights, shade coverage in summer, and truly exceptional stargazing on clear nights.

Inside, you’ll find a comfortable living area with a leather loveseat, a bar-height dining/work table, and a queen memory-foam bed with premium linens. A spacious closet provides storage for skis, snowboards, or fishing gear.

The fully stocked kitchen includes a full-size fridge, oven/stove, espresso machine, drip coffee maker, cookware, dishware, toaster, blender, kettle, microwave, coffee, oil, and basic spices.

From road 150 headed towards the canyon turn (sharply) left onto road 230. Follow 230 until you see the 'Hacienda del Valdez' sign on your right. This is a dirt road and 4-wheel drive is required. Follow the road up the hill. The condo building is on your right (the 3-tiered building). Park in front of or to the right of the building and follow the middle red staircase to Unit 10. Your studio is one of the three located inside.
