Früh morgens angekommen, mussten wir bis ca. 16 Uhr verspätet auf die Luxus-Villa mit Meerblick warten. Dazu gab es in der gesamten Zeit leider nicht ein Begrüßungsgetränk oder dergleichen, um sich als Gäste willkommen zu fühlen bzw. das vom Hotel verschuldete Check-In zu kompensieren. Die Lage der Wasservilla ist genauso wie das Frühstück und Dinner separat von den üblichen Zimmern abgegrenzt. Das Essen war insgesamt frisch und sehr gut. Das Personal war zudem stets sehr freundlich und herzlich zuvorkommend. Die größten Makel bei der Luxus-Villa mit Meerblick sind a) die mangelnde Privatsphäre, da in sehr regelmäßigen Abständen pro Tag Boote mit Touristen extrem nah an der Terrasse vorbeifahren und Fotos knipsen und b) die ab ca. 17 Uhr bis open end aufkommende Disco-Musik, sodass das Feeling von Luxus-Urlaub mit Meerblick in dieser Preiskategorie nicht gerecht wird. Gegen Mittag muss zudem oft mit Strom- und Internetausfällen gerechnet werden. Insgesamt war dieser Urlaub gelungen, da die Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter, die Qualität des Essens und selbstredend der schöne Meerblick der guten Laune Rechnung trugen.

Wir würden wieder das Hotel buchen !
Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit im Konokono Beach Resort und würden das Hotel wieder buchen. An diesem Strandabschnitt ist es mit Abstand das beste Hotel. Wer Afrika kennt, weiß, dass nicht immer alles perfekt funktioniert wie in Europa. An einzelnen Tagen hatten wir im Zimmer kleinere Probleme, da nicht genügend Wasser zum Duschen durch die Leitungen kam. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und auch das Abendessen mit jeweils fünf Gängen war ausgezeichnet. Die ganze Anlage wird täglich gereinigt, inkl. Strandabschnitt, und war sehr sauber. Wir waren insgesamt 19 Tage dort und hatten dadurch einen guten Überblick.

Das Hotel ist einsam gelegen und hervorragend zur Erholung geeignet. Unterhaltung wird nicht angeboten, war für uns aber auch nicht wichtig. Sollte man mehr als eine Woche dort verbringen, wird es vielleicht langweilig. Die Küche im Restaurant ist sehr gut, was man auch an den vielen französischen Gästen merkt. Der Strand ist einmalig schön und wir hatten ihn meistens für uns alleine. Die Unterkünfte sind großzügig aber altbacken eingerichtet, der private kleine Pool bei jeder Hütte sehr nett und intim. Es laufen einige Affen durch die Anlage, was und besonders gut gefallen hat. Das Preisniveau bei den Getränken ist zu hoch.

Traumhaft schönes Hotel in idyllischer Lage und wunderschönem Strand. Jedes Zimmer mit privatem kleinen Pool und ausreichend Privatsphäre, da die Bungalows von einem tropischen Garten umgeben sind, sodass man das Gefühl hat ganz alleine dort zu sein. Super nette und hilfsbereite Damen. Wir würden es wieder buchen.

Stilvolle Anlage. Ende der Welt.
Gefühlt am Ende der Welt trifft man auf diese Oase der Stille. Die weitläufige Anlage ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Küche war excellent und die Cocktails gelungen. Trotz Moskitonetz hatten wir jede Nacht Besuch von Insekten, gehört aber in Afrika dazu. Leider war der Wasserdruck extrem niedrig, was das Duschen leider nicht zum Vergnügen machte. Wie verbrachten eine herrliche Zeit dort, würde es aber eher 4, statt 5 Sterne geben. Auch gibt es außer der Anlage nicht viel zu entdecken, wenn man kein Auto hat.

Tolles Hotel schlechtem Service der Rezeption
Wir waren in insgesamt vier Hotels von *** bis ***** - das Konokono war definitive das beste Hotel auf unserer Reise und wird auch fast dem 5*-Anspruch gerecht. Die Sauberkeit in den Zimmern könnte besser sein (insb. Ablagen), obwohl täglich gereinigt wird. Am ärgerlichsten sind die überhöhten Preise für vor allem Basis-Verpflegung: Das Wasser kostet mit 3$ dreimal so viel wie zwei anderen Hotels, in denen wir waren; die Ausflüge sind maßlos überteuert. Auch das Management der Rezeption ist nicht nachvollziehbar - als Anekdote: Obwohl es am Vorabend hieß, ich könne den Flughafen-Transfer im Hotel per Kreditkarte zahlen, wurde uns beim Checkout gesagt, wir müssten den Fahrer bar zahlen und hierfür noch extra an einem ATM halten. Auf Nachfrage hat uns der Fahrer einen Preis von 50$ genannt, das Hotel hat aber noch mal den Fahrer angerufen, um uns mitzuteilen, wir sollten 75$ zahlen! Das gibt einen Eindruck über die Provision, die das Hotel einstreichen möchte, ohne den Service hierfür zu leisten. Insgesamt bleibt das Hotel trotzdem das beste, das wir auf Sansibar gesehen haben. Die Abzüge beim Service sind auch nur auf die Rezeption bezogen, die Mitarbeiter sind absolut zuvorkommend.

Das Hotel bzw. die Anlage liegt an einem paradisischen Strand. Das Hotel ist wirklich Luxus, bis auf das Essen gibt es nichts zu bemengeln. Essen war leider etwas einfallslos, geschmakslos und nicht autenthisch, hätte mir ein wenig authentischere Küche gewünscht. Buffet ist meist immer das selbe. Bei dieser Klasse von Hotel hätte ich etwas höherklassisges Essen erwartet.

Ruhig gelegenes sauberes Hotel mit großem Strand
Durch die Größe der parkähnlichen Anlagen hat man immer sehr viel Privatsphäre. Das Servicepersonal ist trotzdem überall zu Stelle und aufmerksam. Der wohl sauberste Strand der Küste befindet sich vor dem Hotel und lädt bei Ebbe zu ausgedehnten Spaziergängen ein. Die Villen sehr groß von der Fläche, bieten aber wenig Staumöglichkeit für die Bekleidung. Die Anfahrt vom Flughafen dauert 90 Minuten, wobei die letzten 3 km die schlimmsten sind. Hier ist die Straße in einen fürchterlichen Zustand. Das Essen ist immer Ausgezeichnet und alles wird frisch zubereitet, selbst die Popcorn und Erdnüsse an der Bar.

Wunderschönes Resort zum Relaxen.
Das Kono Kono ist ein kleines Juwel an der Ostküste von Sansibar. Die großzügigen Villen sind sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und bieten viel Privatsphäre. Durch die geringe Maximalzahl an Gästen ist das Resort sehr familiär - und bietet somit den nötigen Rückzugsort für einen entspannten Urlaub. Auch der Strand ist sehr gepflegt und durch viele kleine Palmenhütten der optimale Ort, um einen schönen Strandtag zu verbringen.

Das Hotel liegt traumhaft in einer abgelegenen Bucht auf der Insel ( ca. 1.20 Std. Transferzeit vom Flughafen). Mit stilvollen Villen in einer gepflegten, tropischen Gartenanlage präsentiert sich das Resort exotisch und elegant. Die Villen sind großzügig geschnitten, hervorragend klimatisiert und haben einen privaten Plantschpool im eigenen Garten. Das freundliche, hilfsbereite und herzliche Auftreten des gesamten Personals verschafft ein familiäres Gefühl. Der Service und das kulinarische Angebot lässt keine Wünsche offen. Für Ruhesuchende ist dieses exklusive Idyll der richtige Ort. Für uns war es ein paradisischer Aufenthalt, der unsere Erwartungen weit übertroffen hat. Karibou Sana!

Ideal für ein paar Tage Erholung nach einer Safari oder für die romantischen Flitterwochen. Tolle Anlage an tollen Strand, die Villen sind klasse und ausreichend weit voneinander entfernt. Aufgrund der totalen Abgeschottetheit des Hotels und der geringen Maximalzahl an Gästen kann man toll für sich alleine / zu zweit sein. Ist aber daher nichts um Land und Leute kennenzulernen oder andere Reisende zu treffen. Auch als Ausgangspunkt zur Inselerkundung nur bedingt geeignet. Fazit: Ideal für Erholung zu zweit abseits von allen.

I just want to say our welcome to Konokono Beach Resort and Isaraya was one of the Kingly Experience too bad we had to spend just a night evening and morning. The General manager was so professional and very understanding. My wife did not want to leave this place. If you are looking for serenity, quite and privacy. This is definetly the place you wanna be in. Very big shout out to all the staffs these guys are five star experts and they treat all guests with the same energy and kindness. Most importantly Bernad, Jackson and Agness and the other young lady was the best. Konokono you are fortunate and lucky to have such a great personnel. I got so much but let just finalise by saying that i am very pleased.

Where do I begin it was so much starting with the pick up from the airport. I wasn't informed the transportation fee beedes to be paid in cag. I would have been prepared with the cash if I were informed ahead of time. Once we arrived which was extremely late due to flight delays our room wasn't available. There was an unfortunate accident so that wasn't their fault but the room wasn't very clean. The floor was filthy and you can tell it was a rushed job. A short time after arrival the power goes out. This apparently is a thing because it happened frequently during our stay. The A/C & refrigerator wasn't working well. I complained for several days they were supposed to send maintenance. We never saw maintenance. We then encountered a rat in our room! This was the straw that broke the camels back. After battling the rat all night they finally moved us to another Overwater bungalow. They never resolved the issue and moved the next guests right in our old bungalow. The bungalows need a good overall sprucing up. I'm a frequent international traveler and the best part of this trip was leaving the resort for 3 days going on our safari in Arusha. The communication between staff was lacking and insufficient. The front desk miscommunicated transportation fees, they never informed housekeeping about the rat and why our room was in such disarray the next day, and maintenance never communicated with housekeeping.The maid drop the key in the ocean. We had a terrible experience. Don't go!

This was the worst experience I have ever had. I am quite use to staying in some rough places and don’t mind that if that is the expectation. I paid premium money for a supposed premium Villa “over the ocean”. It started with the taxi service from the port, the driver was great but, it was not conveyed that it was a private service not from the resort so, when we were dropped off at the resort he expected to be paid on the spot, so make sure you bring cash to pay the driver, it won’t be charged through the hotel. After sorting out the taxi service we were led to our “over the ocean villa” The “ocean view” was at least 200 meters away and nothing like the pictures when booked. I tried logging in on the WiFi that was supposedly available and there was no connection to internet at all, the entire night. I went to take a shower after the long journey to the resort and had abysmal water pressure and zero hot water. When my Wife went to take a shower the water completely shut off in the middle of her shower, the water didn’t come back the entire evening. We tried to make the most of it and have a nice dinner well, the entire time of the dinner we had to listen to cats incessantly whining and going around our feet, my allergies were not liking that whole situation. The wait staff was very kind and courteous but, the food.. it is a set menu with very limited options and the food at best is 2.5/5. The next morning we tried to take a shower and there wasn’t water again. No refund!!

This is the place for a wonderful, restful and lovely honeymoon!! My husband and I stayed in one of the Isaraya Villas, and these are a must. We loved the intimate privacy within the villa: own pool, access to the ocean, sunset views, short walk to the clean beach and restaurant (delicious, fresh meals made to order). We also enjoyed the facilities on the main resort as well. The staff are welcoming and helpful, they added to the serene atmosphere. We would visit again!

My mother and I enjoyed a delightful three-day stay at this hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and cooperative, always ready to assist. When a water pipe broke, they promptly provided an alternative, offering a can of water for showering. The diverse and delicious menu changed daily for dinner, and the breakfast was equally tasty, served by friendly staff. The quiet ambiance and breathtaking view make it a highly recommended retreat. Our garden villa, complete with a personal plunge pool, was spacious, immaculate, and included a daily supply of fresh water bottles. The rooms were consistently clean, and the staff throughout the hotel were welcoming and accommodating.

Kono Kono overpriced and underserviced
The hotel was not ready to accommodate guests. The room was not ready for check-in, there were two people in our room still cleaning. The doors didn't close properly so massive bugs were climbing into the room. The power went off repeatedly in the night, there were no back up generators, and then the water shut off for the entire resort. The lighting for the stairs leading to the beach was dark so you couldn't see where you were going, they were literally still installing lights in the dining area while we were eating. The staff are friendly but lost, a beautiful buffet was set for the guests without spoons for service. The waiters promise to serve the food to you and never arrive. Kono Kono has a team of well intended staff but very far from being ready to call itself a resort and accommodate any guests.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Beach Pavilion at Konokono during Valentine’s Day and it was an unforgettable experience. We had dinner at the over the water restaurant at Iysara (the conjoined hotel) on our first night and then an amazing buffet on the beach for Valentine’s Day with yellowfin tuna, a fire and and live music - the setting was divine. Both meals were included in our half board booking and they were easily two of the best meals of our whole stay in Zanzibar. The staff were attentive and cheerful and the beach itself is genuinely stunning. We highly recommend the beach pavilion as the view of sunset from the room is unparalleled. Thank you to the team at Konokono for a magical stay. We will definitely be coming back for longer in the future.

This is a beautiful resort on a white sand beach. Nice lush garden full of flowers, nice and spacious and villas with private pools. Extremely friendly staff that makes you forget the punishing track to reach the hotel. We soon found out that a few details were wrong: the refrigerator was broken, then the absence of shower gel for which we had to chase the reception for two days. Then the constant lack of fresh towels, whether for the pool or for the bathroom, unchanged bed linens, and mostly mediocre food served well beyond the limits of patience (usually a 40-50 minute wait to get a standard dish). Factor in the frequent water shortages that made a simple shower impossible, a power outage for Christmas while the rest of the area was still lit, extending into the next days, and most of all the constant need to fight and beg for the most basic amenities and you get the perfect recipe for a stressful stay. We witnessed several guests, parties of up to 10 people, leave after finding another hotel. We complained several times to the reception and the manager himself who offered us an upgrade to full board. But the issues, obviously related to insufficient staff training, lasted until the last moment. The manager offered us a refund for three nights. Of course, nothing happened despite several reminders to the hotel and the offline services of Expedia that deserve their name. Lack of professionalism across the board, we wouldn't recommend this hotel and this website.

When we booked this hotel through expedia it was rated as a 5 star luxury hotel. We booked a 5 day, 4 night stay in their beach pavilion room and this was paid in full (Approx $1800). The pictures on expedia looked amazing and we were looking forward to spending our last leg of our trip at this property. Please see below the list of issues: - As soon as you walk into the room it smelled mouldy - The AC was not working so we immediately phoned reception and they moved us to the only other room on the beach, Pavilion 2 - When we first walked in, it was unclean as some just checked out - The bathroom and bedroom definitely need some updating - The bathroom sink faucets had no running water - The private pool was not swimmable as it was not to our standards - The main pool need some work as there was missing tiles - There was no beach towels - The beach had trash and rotting sea weed - Food was good but limited We did call expedia to see if we were able to change our hotel however we were told that the refund was not guaranteed therefore we did not have a choice but stay. However, The helpful and cheerful staff did make our stay somewhat better. I do believe that this property has great potential however there is some work to be done if this is to be advertised as a 5 star luxury resort. Overall the property and rooms needs some repairs and maintenance to bring it up to 4 - 5 star standard.

Vi havde en villa over vandet, som var absolut fantastisk vi havde egen lille pool, direkte adgang til havet, villaen er stor og rumlig med alt hvad man skal bruge. Maden vi fik på restaurant ved villaerne var 4 retter som smagte fantastisk. Vil varmt anbefale dette hotel.

I am conflicted about this stay. This being our 6th vacation on Zanzibar, and island we have fallen in love with and her people. The pro are as follows. Beautiful Situation Beach is gorgeous Staff were friendly and attentive Food was great Rooms are clean and well proportioned with clean linen and fresh towels The cons are. The hotel needs maintenance, the thatching and beams in the rooms are rotting. The septic tank near the dining area omitted a pungent aroma quite often There are no working fridges in the rooms, spoke to the manager who promised to attend to it, but in over a weeks stay nothing materialised. There is a beach bar about 300m down the beach that plays music for their sunset party that plays until 22h00 at a very disturbing volume (saying that, if you can’t beat them, join them!) The lunch menu is very overpriced for what it offers, we went to the above mentioned beach bar for lunch on those days we stayed in the area. As a family of grandparents, parents and child we did enjoy our stay. Would I recommend Konokono, I don’t think so as there are so many options on the island. To grow their clients and encourage return quest the will need to do some serious maintenance.

Staff was good. The beach was amazing. Not a 5 star quality hotel and not as expected. We left early and booked another hotel. The slew of issues like the shower not draining, the porch door not closing fully, the fridge not working, the WIFI not working, the terrible turn down service, the fuse tripping, the private plunge pool was dirty, and the food wasn't great,.. we could deal with. The tipping point was the AC barely worked, we had it on blast with the celling fan on and the room was still uncomfortably hot. In addition the resort next door had music BLASTING, with deep base that could be heard in our room all the way across the water. Sure they turned it down around 8:30pm, but people are visiting from all over the world in different time zones. It was not the relaxing, luxury experience we hoped. They have let the hotel run down. And the manager did not seem to care.
