Nice hotel in the middle of Stone Town
We stayed for 3 nights with our two kids (4 and 7) in Asmini Palace and we liked it very much. The room was very clean and we had two big beds with mosquito nets. The breakfast was very good and all the staff were extremely friendly and warmhearted. It´s very close to the House of Wonders and in just a few minutes you are in the hustle and bustle of Stone Town. The roof top terrace is nice as well.

Das Hotel hat einen antiken Flair, schön ist das servierte Frühstück auf der Dachterrasse. Man kommt überall schnell hin und obwohl wir meist die einzigen Gäste waren, wurde sich um alles gekümmert und die Rezeption war 24h besetzt.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms were spacious, clean and culturally intriguing. Rooftop breakfasts were very nice. Located in the heart of Stone Town, the hotel was well situated for walking tours of historic sites, shopping, and access to the scenic harbor. Airport shuttles and island tours were set up nicely through the front desk.

A very good mid-range hotel
We were only there for 2 nights, but were well looked after by the staff. It is very central, but NOT where it is shown on hotel.com's website. please use Google to see where it really is. This was clearly pointed out by me to hotels.com, but their call centre agent was incapable of resolving this. Our room was totally acceptable for a mid-range hotel. Breakfast is simple and is served in a roof-top restaurant. it's nothing spectacular, but we'd definitely stay again.

Nice basic hotel close to the ferry port
We were given cold fresh juice when we arrived and staff were really helpful when we were checking in, and with any questions we had during our stay. Rooms were comfortable with ac, fridge, bottled water, tea and coffee, tv, mosquito nets. We had lunch in the rooftop restaurant, which was all good (cheeseburger, puzza, calamari). Breakfast was also good, and they allowed us to check out late and helped carry our bags to the ferry. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Nice hotel, well located near the sea front and close to ferry yet only 10 mins walk from main tourist strip. Can be confusing to find as it's marked in the wrong place in Google maps. No frills but very acceptable. We used it for one night before departing for the coast and would probably have wanted a few more comforts if staying longer. Dirt and dust turn me off.
I liked the location right in Stone Town, the hotel's character and authenticity and friendly staff. I didn't like bugs and dirt in the elevator, filthy menus, garbage in the planters, hideously stained pillows and inches of dust on bed frame.

I will talk for example about the dust on bed frame.What i have found is that some of our guests leave their windows open and of course dust take the advantage.Normally we advise our guests to close even their balcony door when out side because of that. BED BUGS IN ROOM 104
I stayed at the Asmini for four nights in a double king bed room. The first night I woke with a few bites on my arm and wrist which I assumed were a mosquito bite. The next night I had a ton of small red marks on my feet, again I thought it was from maybe walking in the sand. The third and fourth night my legs were on FIRE. I had multiple bites from my feet to my thigh. Ironically my roommate didn't have any bites. She pointed out that it didn't look like mosquito bites. So I googled 'Mosquito bite vs bed bug bite' the pattern in which I was bite were exactly the pattern of bed bugs. The main thing was that they bite in a line vs mosquitos bites which are randomly placed. That's exactly what I had, bites in a line formation. Our room on arrival was very dusty and had many spider webs so I'm assuming no one had stayed in it in a while. The laundry/towels were very stiff. I definitely don't understand why it was rated/listed as a 4 star hotel. Had this not been the case I would have rated the hotel differently as they were accommodating to my early arrival and the men who worked the reception desk and kitchen were very nice. The Zanzibarian people are very nice people. However I would not recommend this place to friends traveling unless the whole place is exterminated.

Hotel pretends credit card system is down
Upon arriving, we found multiple signs that their credit card reader was down and that all visitors had to pay in cash. When pressed, they revealed it had been down for 4 months. Upon further pressing, they revealed they did have ways to process credit card payments. One should not have to haggle for credit card processing. This soured my stay. Also, no shampoo. They have resident rates which they don't advertise.

We are very sorry that there were a miss understanding about using credit cards at Asmini Palace Hotel. Those multiple signs were informing clients that our Bank is experiencing problems with credit cards and international money transfers. That's why we could not accept credit cards and advised people to pay cash ,or to use the second option you were advised (filling a form with your credit card number and contacts and receiving your receipt by e-mail). modest little gem in Stonetown
We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this charming, affordable small hotel close to the ferry terminal, with easy meanders through Stonetown right at hand.

The hotel is well located in Stone town and the staff was immensely helpful in arranging tours, providing me with toiletries I had forgotten, and making sure I was protected from mosquitoes.

Great Location. Very Helpful Manager, Juma.
My Luggage was lost by the airline for 2 days and Juma the Hotel Manager did everything and made numerous phone calls to the airport Authorities to help me locate my Luggage. Excellent customer service. Great Hotel Location. Within walking distance to the Ferry, Town and Markets.
