Great stay
Just stayed for a week in August and had a great time. The house is very nice inside with good size rooms and bathrooms. In a lovely quiet spot which is great for walks. There is also the use of a good size pool. Good location to visit the surroundings areas in Yorkshire. The owners were also very helpful and assisted us with all our queries. Recommend.

Great place for a family get together

Family holiday
Prince Rupert House is just an amazing propety. We thoroughly enjoyed our special family holiday together, and our newly born grandson arrived in time to join us too! Our grandchildren, aged 19mths to 7, loved the space for running around, secure garden for us, outdoor swimming pool used every day, great fun and such a relaxng time for us all. We hired a hot tub and so pleased we did for our stay. The house was perfect in every way, and so was our family holuday.

Family stay of 4 generations 90 yrs apart
Wonderful property. Spacious and comfortablewith excellent facilities. Extremly well equiped even the barbaque is very big. The swimming pool is fantasic with a good shallow end and a very good size for a proper swim. Property owners lovely and quick respond to any quires. It is in some senses remote although close to York and surroung areas.

Weekend away for friends 50th Birthday Celebrations
We had a fab weekend staying in Prince Rupert House all 11 of us for our friends 50th Birthday,Nothing was too much bother for the hosts, house was absolutely amazing, rooms immaculate,and beds so comfy.The Swimming pool was an added bonus especially as the had glorious weather,only downside was we had to come home,definitely recommend this property 100%.

Enjoyable retreat
Enjoyed the spacious house and the amenities , the kids and younger adults enjoyed the pool although it was only 18 deg outside and a bit windy, good list of local eateries all were good. Away from all the hustle and bustle of the city but also only 10-15 minutes car drive away. Park and ride close by also. Enjoyed our family get together.

Excellent weekend with friends
Stayed with 10 friends on a stag weekend. The property and grounds are beautiful and steeped in history. A bit out of the way, but if you have a car, it's not too far to get into York and see the sights. Amazing for stargazing on a clear night. The hosts were incredibly kind, welcoming and accommodating. Nice comfy beds. Showering in the bath took a bit of getting used to but we managed! A note for any disabled guests: there is a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor but there is a step to get into the shower and there are no handrails. This ended up not mattering to us as the member of our party who used a wheelchair was unable to make it. Overall, a lovely weekend. Thank you!

Wonderful stay in a beautiful house
The house and grounds are gorgeous and the amenities are rich for both adults and children. We stayed for a week, visiting the local area and such wonderful places as York, Knaresborough and Harrogate. I would highly recommend a stay!

Fantastic Stay
This was such a great location and a beautiful estate to stay on. My two children loved the pool which was a great temperature even though it was early summer/late spring. Lucy and the rest of the team were fantastic hosts: very quick responses to all my questions. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a getaway in Yorkshire.

A very special family Christmas
We had the best time at Prince Rupert House, what a wonderful place! Lucy and her family were so helpful with everything and nothing was ever too much! Perfect for reunion with friends
The house, the setting and surroundings completely exceeded our expectations! Stunning location and peaceful grounds, comfy beds and very clean, had everything we needed and more. Lots of room for 12 adults and a dog. Just a shame we only had two nights there as we'd have loved another cosy night by the big fire. Communication was quick and easy, and the owners were very friendly and welcoming when we got there. Thank you for our basket of treats!

Highly recommend
Beautiful period house with lovely grounds. Rural quiet location, great for walks. Excellent facilities - everything provided including a lovely welcome basket with dog treats too! Bedrooms are all a great size with lots of room and lots of bathrooms! Definitely sleeps at least 12 very comfortably. Host very attentive and responsive. Highly recommend. Would come back in the summer so we could make use of the pool.

Just Lovely
This is part of a beautiful old house, well off the main roads, so very peaceful but you don’t feel isolated as the owners live on site and there is a small number of other holiday lets there too. It has a welcoming feel, seems like everything has been thought of and provided, and everything works well. The few questions we had over the week were quickly answered. The children loved the big, warm pool and the small enclosed garden was great for more private play. We would be happy to spend another holiday there.

What an amazing place! The house was absolutely perfect and plenty of room for everyone. The beds were so comfy. Was nice to have an enclosed garden so the dogs could be outside without worrying they would escape. The house was very well equipped with everything we needed. Wonderfully peaceful and picturesque stay in the Yorkshire countryside
We had a really fabulous stay at Prince Rupert House. The property was very clean with modern appliances, good working showers and felt spacious and calm. The owners have maintained the house to a high standard and the beds were really comfortable. They kindly left us a welcome hamper which even included some treats for our dog! There were stairgates permanently attached at the bottom and top of the stairs which is great for toddlers or puppies. The surrounding estate was beautiful with numerous horses in the fields and there was a little horse jumping competition that took place one evening which the kids loved watching. We played tennis on the idyllic grass tennis court and we spent hours and hours in the swimming pool with the kids. The pool was heated to 24 degrees which was a tad fresh (it’s open from 9am - 9pm so probably difficult to keep it warmer when it’s exposed to the elements all day). Our 5 year old got cold quickly so I’d take a mini wetsuit for her next time but in hot weather it is perfect for cooling off! The house has a small, enclosed garden with a gate out to the estate. This was great for our dog who enjoyed watching the world go by without being able to escape to visit the horses. Dogs are kept on leads locally which seemed sensible given the horses in the fields and livestock up the road. There’s some beautiful walks to be done down by the river and we did some day trips to Harrogate and York which were great. We ate some wonderful food at The White Horse in Poppleton - worth booking in advance. There was loads to do around the area and we really loved the house - highly recommend for all ages. We hope to visit again soon.

Wonderful countryside stay
The experience at Rupert house was amazing from start to finish! From the welcome basket to the communication with the host and then back to the cleanliness of the property. It’s set in an idyllic bit of land filled with horses, a croquet lawn, grass tennis courts and an outdoor swimming pool with fields for miles, all of which is readily available to you with all the equipment. The garden to the side of the house is also stunning with plenty of seats for everyone and such a sun trap for the majority of the day (literally 8am - 7pm). York is only a stones through away if you fancy a wonder round the town but that’s not something we needed! None of this compares to how well we were treated by all around us! Consistently helpful and a pleasure to stay with. Would 100% book again and hopefully we will. Thanks again Lucy! You’re a wonderful host

Wonderful summer trip!
We had an absolutely wonderful trip to Moor Monkton. A beautiful, clean property set in an idyllic location surrounded by fields and horses! Easy access to York and Harrogate, lovely drives through the Moors and beaches near Whitby.

One of the Best!!
Our family group of 6 adults and 5 young children and two dogs had a marvellous time at Prince Rupert House. It was a perfect setup for all of us and we felt very much at home. Spacious, peaceful fun with freedom for kids
We had such a wonderful stay! The house was very large and comfortable in every way. Such beautiful historic place with a lovely solidity (we live in creaky old houses! This house isn't that). We had the pool and grounds pretty much to ourselves with so much freedom for the children to roam and play hide and seek, football and cricket. We had lovely walks and just appreciated the space and calm. Thank you - we will return.

Peaceful escape to a fascinating historical property
From turning down the tree lined drive it is a welcome escape. A pleasure to stay in what was once a school in the grounds of a beautiful home set on manicured lawns with walled garden and swimming pool and a historical gem of a private family chapel. A well provisioned and thought out property - everything our two families needed and within driving distance of stunning Castle Howard, the miles of sandy beach at Filey and the wonderful Alice Hawthorn pub at Nun Monkton. New Years Eve stay
We were a group of 10 friends renting the house for a few days over New Year’s Eve. The house was everything we needed, all very clean and the kitchen was well stocked! There was a lovely basket of local Yorkshire goodies on arrival which was much appreciated. The owner kindly recommended a walk for us to do on New Years Day which was along the river to Poppleton. We thoroughly enjoyed this and stopped in a few of the pubs in the village to toast the new year. Many thanks for a wonderful stay, we will be back!

fantastic Christmas stay at Prince Rupert House
We had a family get together for Christmas at Prince Rupert House and had a fabulous time. The house is a real treasure, set in a wonderful location. The rooms are all lovely and spacious. The kitchen very well appointed which was important as we were doing our Christmas dinner for 10 people. The dining room was lovely and easily would sit 12 people with ample room. We will definitely consdier another stay.

50th wedding anniversary !
Big family get together for mum and dads wedding anniversary . Scotland and derbyshire family .,11 of us stayed including kids from 8 to 17. Cannot fault the property at all. Local farm shop delivered a fabulous home made meal Friday night . Absolutely loved it and will definately stay there again 👍👍

Weekend cycling holiday
We booked Prince Rupert House for a short (3 day) cycling break for 8 members of a cycling club. The house was excellent and provided everything we needed, including secure storage in the large internal hallway for our bikes. Its position makes it ideal for visiting numerous places of interest, either by bike or car. Bedrooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The kitchen and separate dining room were perfect for a large group, as indeed was the spacious lounge. As this was a cycling holiday, we didn't do any walking in the surrounding area, however it was clear there were many options for anyone wanting to explore locally; the house is in a lovely setting. An additional benefit was the meal option Penny mentioned to us, provided by the local farm shop. Two menus were available, with different levels of food and service. We chose the cheaper option (under £10 each for main and dessert) and found it superb. Food was brought to the house and just needed to be put into the oven, or served immediately; perfect after a 100+ mile bike ride! We'll certainly be back to the house again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

What a fantastic holiday in an amazing place.
We had a fantastic time from beginning to end, thank you Penny. There were 9 in our family group - 3 generations and a poorly puppy too who came away with us to convalesce. We were greeted by Penny, who explained what she needed to then left us to unpack and explore this beautiful house. There was a lovely hamper of goodies waiting for us , which consisted of cake, sweets, pop, fruit, Yorkshire wine, local eggs, etc.... There was milk and butter in the fridge and cooking ingredients such as oil and herbs in the kitchen. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware for a large group.The rooms are all large with high ceilings and so much space for us all. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom was invaluable for our group. We loved the comfortable beds, abundance of towels, big roll top baths. There was a huge pile of games to play in the living room had the weather been bad but we chose the hottest week of the summer holidays . We couldn't have had better weather to enjoy the facilities outside, such a pretty enclosed garden with barbecue and enough seating for us all around the tables, plus parasol. All of us apart from Grandma and the pup had a go at tennis(balls and racquets provided but we took our own), some with more success than others. We didn't try croquet but it looked fun. The swimming pool was where we spent the most of the time, it is shared with the small campsite and the owners but it was never too busy despite the glorious weather. We had such a lot of fun there and enjoyed a picnic lunch at the side of the pool using the garden furniture provided. In 5 days we only left the estate once for a walk to the river as it was such a relaxing place to stay. We would love to come back.
