Wunderschönes altes Hotel, sehr gute Lage, tolles Frühstück. Aber leider ist das Zimmer und das Bad nicht so sauber und es wird während des Aufenthaltes nicht gereinigt und die Betten werden nicht gemacht.

This hotel has loads of character. If you’re looking for something modern and high-tech, it’s probably not the place for you. But I felt like I got an authentic Yorkshire experience. The location is really good. Outside the city walls, so it’s easy to maneuver with a car. But only about a 10 minute walk from the center, so it was easy to get there (even in the middle of a rain storm, which I gather is not unusual). It’s unlikely I’ll travel again to York, as I feel I’ve checked it off the list. But if fate brings me there, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Elmbank again.

Our one night stay was lovely. Fuss free, early check in with a cheeky upgrade, the room was clean, warm and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great the next morning. £18 for 24hr parking at the school. A short walk into York centre.

We loved that the hotel was in walking distance of the town centre, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle so was quiet at night. Felt safe, room was clean and a big room so great for the three of us sharing.

Elmbank is a wonderful place to stay in York. The price is right, the building is gorgeous, the bar and restaurant are lovely & cosy spots to chill, the staff are friendly, the room was comfortable and decorated beautifully, parking was available.

Quite couple of days
Our second visit to Elmbank for a couple of nights as we passed through York on our way home. The rooms are well appointed, clean an have more flare you often see. We ate in the restaurant the first night and those serving us couldn't have done more to help.

Weekend in York
Loved the hotel decor. The tiles in the bathroom were beautiful. I love art deco. The room a fair size. The bed was really comfy to sit and relax in but a bit too firm to sleep in comfortably. The room was also very dusty. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but it looked beautiful. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel has been decorated in an art deco style with lots of oak panelling. It’s quite dark inside but cosy on a winters day. Rooms were nicely decorated and generally in good order. The reception and breakfast staff were fabulous and they had gluten free options 👍👍

Birthday night away
This was an over night stay booked for my birthday. Our room was lovely and the walk in shower was amazing. Nice bottles of water in the fridge and all the finishing touches like hairdryer, iron, ironing board, luggage stand etc. The bed was a king and super comfortable x I don’t want to be negative but the trip was special and supposed to be a relaxing break away. Workmen woke me up at 7.55am and the noise kept going. I thought they were on the roof but when I mentioned it to reception they said it was plasterers in another room. Not acceptable for people wanting to relax. Our window was also filthy and i know this sounds picky but it might be a good idea to get it cleaned.

Really good experience on the whole. We stayed in a house deluxe room and the decor and facilities were excellent. Bathroom really clean and beautifully decorated. Tried to order room service via the App but was told by reception that they’d had a busy Sunday lunch and were re-setting the tables etc so that might be why service was not available. Receptionist was very good and suggested I just ring through my order. Booked a table in the restaurant in the end. Food was lovely. One suggestion, a few child friendly options/portions would be good. Parking wasn’t an issue as it was Sunday so managed to get a space on the road outside the hotel. All staff were professional and helpful. Perfect location if you’re happy with a 10 minute walk into town and great location if you want to go to York races.

The hotel lobby area is very nicely presented. The rooms are sizeable with a great size bed. The shower was of good quality. Breakfast in the morning was particularly good.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Elmbank hotel , cant comment on the food as we ate out , the only fault i had was room service came around at 10am and when we asked if they could come back later they said they would , we returned to our room later that night and it had nt been changed and no clean towels , a member of staff sorted this straight away , so wasnt to much of a problem , i would definately stay again , thanks for a lovely break .

Great visit to York
Hotel was just great, comfortable room, great food, breakfast was lovely. Room needed a little maintenance but noo issues, beautiful decoration and quality fittings. Best shower lve been in, water pressure amazing. Staff lovely and the building art deco inside, does not do it justice from how it looks outside, would definitely stay again.

This place is like a hidden gem. It is a lovely building on the outside but the moment you walk inside, it kinda takes your breath away. The architecture/art that has gone into the place when it was built is amazing and they have kept everything almost original and even the modern decor is stunning. The room was brilliant. We got a free upgrade so that was nice. Really convenient location and parking. Staff were very professional and friendly. There were even staff there that weren't on shift that were being helpful. We were in the bar having a drink as a few of the staff were after their shifts and the night manager saw that we were looking at all the amazing architecture so he asked anither member of staff on shift to get us a booklet of info on all the history of the place and then came over himself to tell us about the place and give us a little tour. Just couldn't fault the place. Will definitely try and get back as we loved it.

Wonderful experience - beautiful hotel (rooms, lobby, restaurant), large room (triple lodge), yummy food, cute bar area. The restaurant is good, but they sometimes have events booked so it's not available - best to make a reservation to be sure. It's a bit of a long walk to get to the Minster (25 minutes), but not so far as it's not doable. Just bring comfy shoes!
