Or pack a delicious picnic and jump in the car to Exmoor National Park (12 miles) for satisfying hikes covering moorland, woodland and coastland. The nearby harbour town of Ilfracombe (5 miles) is a gorgeous place to spend time, and you can also board a boat to the unspoilt Lundy Island, home to a fascinating array of wildlife amidst dramatic scenery.
