Going through the properties gates a long driveway takes you down to a point where you first see the two ponds and then as the view opens up, the Barn becomes visible. Squirrels and rabbits were busy around the large “village green†type area in front of the property where two oaks stand guard. Entering the Barn you immediately get a sense of homeliness from the surroundings. The kitchen reminded us of French kitchens, functional without any frills but perfectly adequate for a holiday. The bedrooms were cosy with comfortable beds. The bathroom and en suite were both modern and practical. The owner popped in shortly after our arrival and explained the heating system and a couple of other things but then that was it, they were next door if we needed anything. The property was nice and clean, comfortable and warm. The one really horrible wet day we had was an excuse to light the wood burner, it added to the snug ambiance with its cheery glow. Lastly I must mention the welcome basket. It was a wonderful surprise to find some really lovely local goodies.
