Noisy Hotel
I was in this hotel last time in 1987 or 1989... It was one of the top hotels of Varanasi. This time, I found that around the lobby and restaurants were well maintained but the rooms was untouched at all. The bathrooms need some upgrades at least. Other then this the hotel was very noisy. Some of the customers were talking loud in the corridor and in my next room during the night. I could not sleep in my third night in the hotel all night .Finally I had to change my to the other side of the hotel at 05:30 AM in the morning. The front desk staff could not stop this problem even I called them at 02:00 AM in the morning.

Noisy...
I was in this hotel 35 years ago. It was one of the best in Varanasi in the year 1987. It seems to me they did not upgrade the rooms at all. Kept as it is. At least bathrooms must be upgraded. The main problem is the customers makes a lot of noise after midnight. One of the night I woke up at 01 AM with loudly talks in front of my room door. New arrival people were talkin in the corridor and they were not taking care of sleeping people. I have called front desk to stop this noise but it started again in the room next to our. I have talked to the guys but no result. They kept noise all night and much more at 5:30 inn the morning. No sleep at all... I had to change my room to the other side of the building at 6:00 am in the morning. I am thinking hotel authority should be able to stop the noise instead changing my room... So, this hotel was one of the best 35 years ago but I can not think to stay at this hotel any more.

The judging guy at reception.
When I reached the Clark hotel at Varanasi, I went to the reception counter to check in. The guy at the reception started asking questions about how I don’t look from the region even though Uttar Pradesh is my native. Then he said couple of times “Sir! Your bill is 25k, are you aware of this!” To which I replied, Yes! I made the reservation. I felt like he was judging my based on my clothes, which felt really disgusting. His behaviour and questioner made me and my family really unhappy. Even though services at the hotel was decent, I will not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

Satisfactory
Tha overall experience was satisfactory . The TV did not have the continuous services of most of the channels . The quality of furniture , ceiling fan was not as per 5 star hotel. The quality of food was very low standard i.e. we ate dum biryani on the first day , the meat was not cooked properly , it was very very oily , it was as if seprate cooked meat and rice were mixed in a pan and served. Your building is nice , people are nice and courteous .

Overall experience was average. Hotel is one of the old hotel of Varanasi and now showing its age. Though the staff was helpful and ready to help. The location is next to JHV Mall and other hotels so lots of options for eating.

This hotel is quite aged, and it shows. I had to change rooms three times just to avoid extreme paint smell in the room, only to end with a nicer and bigger room with mold smell. Great staff and very accommodating manager, but the hotel itself I wouldn’t choose again.

Overpriced and run down hotel.
The staff started out by asking my wife if she wanted a separate room for our baby and her. Who does that? Just because I'm white and she's Indian we get asked that question? Second: They don't have cribs for babies, so we wound up having to improvise in the worst possible way and the stay went downhill from there. We put that we had 2 adults and one child in the reservation and they didn't have a way to take care of our family. We were stuck in a horrible situation there and for what we got, it was WAY OVERPRICED. Next comes the shower that leaks all over the floor of the bathroom from the drain, you can see the water shooting out of the side of the tub from the "service area" near the front. It's not their crappy shower curtain, but the tub drain itself that pours a huge swamp of water all over the floor. So, you get out of the shower into a mega swamp. You're better off bathing in the Ganges river, there's less water on the floor when you want to dry off. The air conditioner never worked and we complained that it was too hot and they said they'd fix it, and they did NOT. Overall I would warn guests to NOT stay here if you want a good hotel, go somewhere else.

Competitive Price - Bu disappointing Standards
Under No circumstances would you call this a five star hotel or hotel for any stars. - Rooms Dated - Bed ;asked for double , received single bed Arrived at 5pm - checkin and room given at 8pm.(?) - Breakfast Poor/Non-edible found insects close to Bread baskets-Housekeeping & Pest control needed badly in kitchen area. Stayed for 3 days eaten outside. +Door Man Pleasant Definitely will not stay or recommend anyone.

I made reservation through hotel.com and there were two rooms I was told that there is breakfast included and upon my arrival the manager did not had any reservations under my name. He declined that there is any reservation by my last name he finally opened his notebooks and found my name then I was told that I had to pay for the breakfast of one child only one child is allowed to have breakfast I have to pay for the other. Finally after some argument they agreed . The bathroom has leaky pipes after shower there was water on the entire floor the swimming pool was full of dead bugs on the water surface. I had stayed in hotel clark Shimla which was great this does not come close. Hotels.com charged me $800 for the two rooms it was not worth the money I did not enjoy it then the staff wanted me to write something nice for them while they were watching what I was writing what was the point of the evaluation.

Fancy looking hotel but basic rooms
Hotel Clarks is a bit of a drive from the ghats but not super long. Its located down a street with the fanciest hotels of varanasi. When you enter, you will be impressed by the lobby. It is very fancy and there are shops where you can negotiate the price. The restaurant is also very western and fancy looking. The food is good. the room is adequate. I was surprised by the bathrooms. There was lots of mildew and it was quite outdated. The bathroom was western in format. (Western bathtub and toilet). unfortunately the food here at the restaurant and room service is very expensive compared to other restaurants and hotels. I was very disappointed by the bathrooms. we were shown another room and it was also very outdated and had mildew in the bathroom. I feel it's a little bit overpriced based on the room youre getting. But the service and the hotel is nice a.d having shops downstairs is nice.

Not a 4 stars hotel!
I was rather disappointed by this hotel. I expected a 4 stars hotel, I got a big guesthouse basically. The swimming pool was closed and we weren't made aware of that, nor they apologised in any way about that. Wi-Fi wasn't working on most days and they didn't do anything about it. I used a pc on a dark back office. Hotel is dated, room was ok, overlooking a dry garden, bathroom needed fixing. The only good thing was the lovely people working there. At breakfast they did everything to make me happy, the shops are run by extremely gentle patrons, everyone is really amazing except the ones working at the concierge. Never an apology, never trying to help. I wouldn't come back. Better other hotels on the same street!

Great service. Great sleep.
I always have a great sleep at this hotel. Clark's is a Lovely upscale hotel that has been recently remodeled in most areas. The rooms are tasteful and soothing and the beds wonderful. Overall, the service is outstanding, although the front desk staff is snooty. Housekeeping staff keep the hotel and rooms spotless and their service is impeccable when you need something. I will keep coming back.

bad, not worth the cost.
it was not a good hotel, lousy place to stay. Rooms were too bad. after long argument they changed the room but that was also not good

当初1泊のみの予定だったが、結局3泊した。それだけ、コストパフォーマンスに優れている。 ネット環境は快適であり、隣にショッピングモールがあるので、仕事などで籠るときにも便利。

A oasis in chaotic Varanasi. Good to come home to.
From arrival to departure this was a good experience. Reception, bar, restaurant all top class. Staff consistently courteous and generously helpful. Room good but bathroom showing wear. When using room service food be very clear what you want or you may get a surprise.

On arrival the manager declared the type of room we had paid for (indicated in print on the receipt we had with us) was not available to the type of guests we were. A more friendly subordinate intervened and suddenly the room materialized. Formerly luxuous, this hotel has surrepticiously fallen into decay. In a futile attempt at renovation, the bathtub has been gloss-painted, but the paint flakes off and the faucets leak. The wifi connection flickers in the room, the signal is too weak. Groups on package tours permanently occupy half of the main dinning room and the totality of the cafeteria (closed to regular guests and transformed into a canteen for the groups on package tours).

Mediocre
This hotel does not deserve 4 starts. Hotel is a bit tired and run down. Rooms are clean, but have noisy and ineffective air conditioning. Beds are not that comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful, but not that competent. Long wait at checkin. Credit card machine wasn't working at checkout, forcing me to go to a nearby ATM for cash to pay the bill. Had this hotel been marked as 2 stars on Hotels.com, it would have been fine, but it should not have been rated 4 stars.
