Missed Opportunity
Like many others, with holidays cancelled and uncertainty around international travel we booked a short break in the UK and based on their innovative website, the promises of 5 star service and luxury we plumped for the Cary Arms.. We booked one of the beach huts, to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet and glorious views of Babbacombe bay, we were not disappointed, the location was fantastic with stunning views of the bay and beyond, the accommodation was beautifully finished to a high standard and very comfortable for all our needs. My only concern is these “huts” get very warm, there is no air conditioning and as you sleep on the mezzanine any hot days the night would be uncomfortable, we just about got away with it! That was the high point, there is a complete disconnect between the beautiful accommodation that has recently been added and the rest of the service offering – 5 star it certainly isn’t. From the lack of welcome, to just being given a handful of keys with no instructions, to the chaotic breakfast service this is a real missed opportunity for all concerned with the Cary Arms – the staff are young and enthusiastic but lack any real training or guidance in what they should be doing, there was no oversight and no checking you were ok and had everything you needed. Reception was just that, a place to drop your keys and move on, when we enquired about places to visits or where we might find certain shops or the best walks to do, we were offered little. I

Fab retreat on the Devon coast
This place is a real hidden gem on the Devon coast. It's a mix of five star hotel and laid back beach resort. We had an incredible balcony overlooking the sea The staff was incredibly attentive and just really nice. I'm definitely going back

I visited with my daughter and 7 nth old granddaughter, the staff were fantastic nothing was too much trouble, polite and friendly. I can highly recommend the Cary Arms as a peaceful and beautiful place to stay.

Rustic charm and character right by the sea.
We received a warm welcome from the staff and our room was light and airy and spotlessly clean. Lovely to be so close to the water even though it was January. We had a delicious evening meal by the fire and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast with sea views. It is very informal and although not as luxurious as we had expected it had plenty of old fashioned rustic charm.

Fabulous hotel in a lovely location. Beautiful rooms, great food and courtious friendly staff. Can't recommend this hotel enough. You even get s good bag when you leave, lots of nice individual touches. Will definitely stay again.

Our 30th Wedding Anniversary Weekend
The hotel was great, kind and helpful staff. The room was amazing, beautiful view of the beach and crystal clear sea. I chose this hotel as it was the closest to where we spent our honeymoon. Only to find out that they now own what was the hotel, and it's now two cottages. That you can rent!

A little bit of heaven!
Everything at The Cary Arms was wonderful. From the moment we arrived the service was excellent and all the staff so friendly. The spa is wonderful and so relaxing. Well worth a visit! We only stayed one night but it was so beautiful and relaxing that we came away feeling as though we’d had a holiday. We will be back!

Cary Arms review
Nice hotel in a great position overlooking the sea, and in a suntrap for most of the day. Access road is a bit tricky, but worth it when you get there. All of the staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful, and this is a major feature - you are made to feel really welcome. We had a terrace room, with great views. The new beach hut accommodation look very modern and contemporary, and I would consider staying in one of those next time. Food was good. Stayed two nights.
