We stayed at Hotel Rose Garden for 6 nights, and we're more than satisfied with the stay. Some notable things:
- lots of convenience stores (seven eleven, lawson etc.) close to the hotel for daily needs, plus lots of other shops and restaurants
- formidable bathroom with soap/shampoo dispenser, toothbrushes etc. (you basically have to take nothing with you) AND of course a Toto Washlet (modern toilet with oshiri spray, bidet function and pre-warmed seat)
- VERY close to Nishi-Shinjuku station, so you're only 10 minutes away from Shinjuku station, another 15 from Harajuku/Omotesando/Shibuya, great location to get around Tokyo very cheap
- very competent, friendly hotel staff, checking in and out took only seconds, and if you're not experienced with Japanese, don't worry, they speak enough English to help you out
- the hotel has its own restaurants, one italian for which you get free coupons (50% off a meal) every day
- no curfew! The hotel is open 24/7, just remember, Japanese subways don't operate much longer than midnight, but you can always stroll around the busy nightlife of Shinjuku, with it's restaurants and karaoke bars
All in all a very affordable, clean, welcoming hotel to which we will certainly return on our next visit to Tokyo.
