Beautiful big historic house with good garaging. Nice staff. Garden in front of house behind garage needs maintenance. Overall a cosy stay.

The whole experience was very bizarre. We couldn’t get a hold of the hotel to confirm check in (as mention on our itinerary it was essential to do) however none of the numbers provided worked, finally got thru via email and I was told someone would be there at 5. But our check in stated from 3. We arrived at 3 hoping we could get checked in only to be told by a lady eating chips on the porch that they “decided 3pm would be too early so changed it to 5pm but on your booking it will still say 3 but it’s 5 so see you then” so we wander around town for a bit and come back at 4.30 where there are 3 other couples trying to check in at the same time. Then we found our room.... number 5. It had a window in the walls to both number 6 and 7. With only a curtain to divide us. You could hear EVERYTHING. People coughing outside (we were 2nd story) people peeing etc the decor was nice and they really tried particularly with the friendly free things in the kitchen but the self check in and room quality were just really off. We didn’t end up staying the night and left headed back to Chch that evening.

Dear Guest we apologise for what happened we changed the policy on time to check to 5pm, however the manager was not advised that she could let guests check in if they arrived before 5pm we apologise for this and would like to offer you a free nights accommodation for the trouble the manager cause you.
