Fantastic freshly remodeled hotel in the center of the CBD. The staff and amenities were great. The room was large, luxurious and quiet. The free happy hour each night from 5pm-6pm was a great way to meet guests and get travel tips. If it's your first trip to Sydney you might want to stay somewhere with a view as this hotel does not offer any views unlike the comparably priced hotels near the water.

We stayed here in January 2024 while visiting from Canada and it was so perfect we added extra days to our stay. The hotel itself is an art-piece; from the immediately welcoming lobby and vibrant spaces to the room and rooftop it is a treat. We've loved the convenient location both for access to the trains and buses we've used to get around Sydney and for easy walking around the CBD and fun surrounding neighbourhoods. Everyone we've interacted with from the front desk, bell-hop, bars and restaurants and housekeeping have been friendly and helpful. I'm glad we chose this as our home away from home while visiting Sydney.

What an excellent hotel and well worth the money for this fine five star hotel! From check in with sharnie through to breakfast and dinner options I would definitely recommend the kimpton! The inner room I had was so quiet and very comfortable with all the trimmings you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Thanks again to all the staff I will return again Cheers for 2024

Almost any other hotel would have been better
Not sure if it was the hotels fault or Hotels.com but when I arrived they charged me at least TWICE as much as I had reserved for. It was New Years Eve so not much choice- had to stay. Complained to hotel and hotels.con about it and both promised to fix the problem- neither did. A free bottle of wine and a $200 credit does not make up for being ripped off thousands. They bill themselves as a luxury hotel but the rooms are dark and face right into people’s apartments. Pretty lobby but the restaurant is way way overpriced (think $12 for a single piece of dry toast and you get the idea). Indifferent (at best) staff and the servers are very unfamiliar with the food. Altogether a sad and disappointing first few nights in Sydney. Will never stay at a Kimpton again.

Falls short
We chose this hotel due to its location and the Kimpton brand as we have found sister hotels in other parts of the world to be very good. However, this stay fell short and probably more in keeping with 3-4 stars due to a number of issues. Staff - all very welcoming and friendly. Rooms - our room was comfortable and relatively spacious for a city location, however needed some TLC. The wardrobe doors didn’t close properly and were quite scratched. There is no view whatsoever. Dining - we stayed on a B&B basis and chose to eat out 2/5 mornings as breakfast choice was so limited. The menu is very small and there is no buffet option. If you don’t like eggs or want to eat eggs daily there are only 2 options, which was disappointing. There are no options for toast at your table etc and the fruit provided before ordering was small and limited. We did not eat dinner at the hotel. Facilities - we were disappointed that the roof top bar was closed one evening due to being relaunched. Paying guests were not included in this event, which was a shame. The hotel also took a significant deposit for the room, which we are still waiting to be refunded almost a week later. This felt excessive and our experience with other 5* hotels is usually that a simple hold is organised rather than removal of funds, which enables immediate reimbursement. Overall we felt this hotel fell short and as there are many fantastic hotels in Sydney we will choose another brand when we return.

Very disappointing. Stayed Aug 11th and booked a premium room. Kimptons rooftop deck and building next door are under construction. Woken up at 609am on a SATURDAY to construction sounds. Guaranteed checkin was 3pm. Room wasn't ready until 2:48 and cleaning looked rush to be placed on 2nd floor near construction. AVOID. Was only here for one night if longer I would have asked to change hotels. Room and bathroom were big and nice

The location is good, very convenient. Very good quality breakfast. Very disappointed with the standard of housekeeping and facilities of the room, especially the wardrobe. The hanging space is very small, we could only put 1 suit and 4-5 shirts in it. Although there are lots of storage space inside the room, unfortunately, they are not good for putting clothes. There is no drawer at all, only cabinets with shelves which seems not clean, hence, we keep most of our clothes in our luggage cases finally, that made me very frustrated. Moreover, there is no full-length mirror inside the room, that another miserable thing of the room design.

The basic premises, especially the lobby and lift areas are stunningly pretty, but the roof area is basically a bit of a bombsite and has been for years. Don't visit with plans of having a swim and visiting the rooftop bar - it doesn't exist! And would it be too hard to warm the pool? It certainly doesn't get much sun. The staff are completely lovely, but attention to detail isn't always quite there. There was some kind of spilled coffee or chocolate drink over the furniture in our room, and the lighting systems in the rooms need a phd or something to even get a reading lamp to work. All in all a lovely place, but tends to disappoint in the details.
