I rated the Royalton top 1 prior to visiting Antigua. Sadly, my experience here was my worse yet. I’ve stood at the Royalton in other countries and had no complaints. I wasn’t given the room I originally booked (mind you the property was empty), went to sleep hungry because I was turned down at the restaurants or was told that they ran out of food, the workers treat you as though you didn’t spend your hard earned money to be there. Many other guests were complaining about the lack of service as well. I was celebrating a birthday which was indicated upon checking in and it was a slap in the face to see doors on my same floor decorated for the occasion and not mine. If you’re considering staying here, don’t!

Best resort food that we have ever tasted. Area is pretty remote, limited excursion options. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great location for families, not so much for people looking to explore/experience antigua.

-Risotto was made with regular rice (Lots of ingredients not available for dishes advertised) -Patio door in room does not lock -Front desk talking amongst themselves instead of acknowledging and checking in guest -Most employees demeanor was dismissive, rude or sad -Room floors were dusty -Behind the door was a hair clip and debris -Closet door where safe is located was broken and hanging out -Crushed cigarette pack in closet -No king bed as reserved -Steam iron is rusted. Ruined a white shirt -Restaurants does not exist that was advertised -Shower had yellow stain (presumably pee)

The Junior suite with 2 beds is very spacious. The hotel has a few play areas. One was closed due to a broken slide. Didn’t appreciate that the entire outdoor play area with the slides was closed due to one broken slide. Hot dogs and burgers were either beef and pork. My family and I don’t eat beef and pork.

The grounds were beautiful but the room was mediocre, the coffee pot didn't work, the alarm clock was missing parts of the screen digits and the mini bar was extremely mini the only alcohol in it was 2 beers and was not restocked daily like they said unless you call them and even so they didn't always bring them. The poolside bar was not properly stocked, I ordered 4 different drinks and they couldnt make them because they ran out of ingredients. The buffet had the same dishes every day and come on we were in the Caribbean when we asked for hot sauce they bring us Tabasco, we expected a little more Caribbean dishes. The coffee shop was fantastic. The entire staff was exceptional, friendly and helpful. l won't recommend this company to anyone.

We travelled with our two children (8&6) and really enjoyed our stay at an excellent family friendly resort. The Diamond Club Butlers (Khem and Shanice) gave excellent service and exceeded our expectations. We mostly stayed on site except for one day trip recommended by the staff and the kids did not tire of the facilites (or free ice cream!)

Our overall stay was pleasant. One of the best things to note is the staff were all welcoming and friendly. The location of the resort is also secluded with a beautiful clean beach. Additionally, the food was also surprisingly good— even the buffet. On the negative end, there was so many flies on the property, possibly because it was mango season? Another odd thing was the smell of mildew and dirty water in the room. It didn’t last all day, it would just come and go. Also, the ac in the room dropped to 64 degrees which in my opinion was not cool enough and oftentimes the room felt muggy and stuffy. Lastly, something to note is that the steakhouse does get packed QUICKLY. If you’re not part of the diamond club I suggest you join their waitlist at 6pm sharp as regular customers can’t make reservations (diamond club perks only). The steakhouse dinner was delicious, but if you can’t make it the buffet had good dinner options as well.

The staff was not friendly at all they didn’t make any efforts to assist or address any of our concerns during our stay and I made it clear upon booking that it was my birthday trip and when we checked in we did the same but for some odd reason my husband had to keep reminding the staff that it was my birthday and even at the spa the didn’t even bother to try it was so disappointing. There were two people who were pleasant upon every interaction and that’s Jahsun and one of the servers in the buffet restaurant (she was a middle aged lady, she was very friendly). The food was good at the buffet, the steakhouse was trash, only the wine was good, I will not recommend or return to your resort.

Great selection of dining options on a beautiful beach with lovely pool area and swim up bar. We arrived at 4pm and our room wasn’t yet ready so had to wait a further hour for it at 5pm. The sun loungers by the pool and beach although plentiful and the hotel has a no reserving sunbed policy, was a shame to see all the sun loungers gone by 8am because of everyone doing just this.

Save yourself. Don’t come here. The room we were assigned had a couch with slashes and a disgusting white stain. (Yes read between the lines). We alerted the facility’s and it took hours for them to change the couch. They acknowledged it was unacceptable. But, for the subsequent days we still spent way too much time negotiating compensation with the manager on site for which they asked us to sign what read as a non disclosure agreement. We refused and they rescinded the commitment of complementary points and another perk. The people, the land, the water of Antigua are awesome but this property and the management is not. I can share much more but this is a simple warning of the horrid service at this resort. I have filed a formal complaint with Marriott corporate and hope this is addressed.

If you like dirt, this is the hotel for you
The room was FILTY upon arrival. Used qtips on the bathroom floor and I was in “diamond club”. They sent someone to clean it and he showed up with a dry mop and a STINK attitude. Speaking of stink, the next morning the smell coming out of the shower was liken to a sewer. It smelled so bad that maintenance advised no one use it. Instead I had to shower in their dirty common room bathroom while they gave a timeshare presentation. Now they’re refusing to refund my one night in hell. I could’ve slept in the airport and received better service.

I reaaalllyy enjoyed my stay here! The people are friendly and upbeat, also ask ask ask away about the culture, what’s some good places to go off the resort, some good excursions. Every day is something new too from water aerobics, beach volleyball, and much more. Deff worth the money, Antigua is gorgeous and the views are awesome. The restaurants TOP 2 is Caribbean and 2nd is Grazies but the wings at Score are good and Hunter steakhouse is good too! Make ya way there

Everything was great except the food - pretty bland at all restaurants for someone accustomed to spices regularly. Need more snacks or small food items between breakfast/lunch and dinner. Beach was amazing, pristine clean waters but a bit of a walk from your room.

I booked this trip as a surprise for my mother and myself. Needless to say, this trip has been the trip of a lifetime and we couldn’t have been happier with the Royalton as our resort. The entire staff body, whether in the lobby, at the restaurants, in the spa, or on the beach, were all extremely kind and welcoming. With their itinerary of activities each day there was always something to do and never a dull moment even if we decided to sit a few activities out at relax near the beautiful ocean and pools. The one thing that was confusing was the dining situation as we were told no reservations were needed for the restaurants but then had to wait on one night due to existing reservations but the wait wasn’t over an hour and the food was delicious so we didn’t mind waiting. It’s safe to say that we will be returning to the Royalton in the near future.
