OCEAN FRONT & INFINITY POOL

Perched 100' above the Caribbean Sea you will enjoy sweeping ocean views from every room in your oceanfront 2 bedroom 2.5 bath luxury villa. One of the many unique features of Bordo Mare are "accordion doors" that can be completely opened to seamlessly merge indoor and outdoor living spaces, enabling you to enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and feel of ocean breezes throughout your villa. Located in the prestigious neighborhood of Maria Bluff, your villa is an easy 8 minute drive to the restaurants, shops, and nightlife in Cruz Bay, and 10 to 15 minutes from several of St. John's world famous beaches.

Built in 2014, Bordo Mare offers a modern 1700 square foot two-level floorplan. The lower level features a well-stocked chef's kitchen with ample cooking and serving equipment. The living room and dining room feature "accordion doors" that lead to a large oceanfront balcony with both lounging and dining areas. There is a half bath with two doors accessible from both inside and outside your villa that provides convenient bath access from the pool and balcony.

The upper level features 2 king bedrooms, each with a private bath and "accordion doors" that lead to a large shared oceanfront balcony. Many guests enjoy watching whales and dolphins breach the ocean surface the balconies (binoculars are provided if you wish to get a closer look). Looking down from the balconies and slightly to the right you will see a reef along the rocky shoreline where sea turtles and sting rays can be spotted searching for food in the shallow water. An internal staircase connects the upper and lower levels, eliminating the need to go outside to access bedrooms as is the case in the many "pod-style" villas that pervade the St. John rental market, a welcome feature during rain showers and for families with children.

Outside your villa is a large patio with an oceanfront infinity edge saltwater pool with a solar heater and a built-in table with 4 stools to enjoy your favorite concoctions while cooling off in the pool. Saltwater pools are better for your skin and for the environment than chlorine pools because they require little-to-no chemicals. Solar heaters warm your pool water into the mid-80's as opposed 78-80 degrees where most St. John pools naturally stabilize year-round. There are ample outdoor lounging and dining options on the patio as well, along with a built-in propane grill for outdoor cooking. A courtesy cooler, beach chairs, and beach towels are provided for visits to St. John's world famous beaches. And of course, the endless Caribbean Sea views are ever present whether your are inside your villa, on a balcony, or hanging out in your pool or patio.

High speed wireless Internet is accessible everywhere indoors and out. There is off-street parking for 2 vehicles with ample space to turn around. The water supply in your villa is filtered by a top-of-the-line 3-stage UV water filtration system that delivers bottled water quality through every faucet in your villa, and an automatic backup generator keeps you powered up through the occasional power outages that occur on this remote island paradise.

The location of your villa is among the most sought after on the island. In addition to being in a premier neighborhood close to town, your villa was built on a rocky peninsula facing south. The southern exposure treats you to beautiful sunrises and sunsets while cooling you in the steady easterly trade winds which provide constant relief from the Caribbean heat. The dry rocky terrain, peninsula location and steady ocean breezes all lead to fewer mosquitos to annoy you when enjoying morning coffee or an evening cocktail on your oceanfront balcony while taking in the breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea, St. Thomas, and the smaller nearby islands. Many guests fall in love with this idyllic experience.

Beautiful property but frustrations with the air conditioning

The home and the view were beautiful. The house was described as being fully air conditioned. There were Nest thermostats in the two bedrooms and downstairs. Unfortunately they were programmed to go up in temperature throughout the day and at night. We were able to adjust the temperature but the pre programming would cause the temperature to increase again. This was a challenge for my elderly parents who tried not to go up and the steps too often. My poor father would go upstairs to take a nap and I would be 90 degrees in the bedroom. It would take two hours to cool the bedroom. This required a call to the management company and the owner of the property to resolve. Unfortunately my parents suffered for several days before the resolution took place.

I had to pry myself away from the balcony overlooking the ocean every morning. It’s not often that you’ll find a vacation home like Bordo Mare. It’s proximity to the water is captivating.

An Oceanside Gem!

We give this stay an A! From the time we booked our trip, the owner was in contact to confirm the booking and begin making recommendations to make our stay extra fun. The house was great too. And that VIEW - even better than the photos. I will say the house could use a little TLC. Maybe it was because we visited toward the end of the season, but things just seemed like they could use a little sprucing (pressure washing, pool chemicals, dishwasher operation, and other deep cleaning). This is the ONLY reason I would not give this stay an A+. Overall the place was very clean, modern, and well-functioning though. If you haven't ever spent time on St. John, be advised that water conservation is an issue. We ran out of water one morning, but the owner's representative responded right away and fixed the problem. In fact, I can't say enough nice things about the caretakers - there was a meal and wine in the fridge when we arrived and one of the guys (Jared) even gave us a ride one day when he saw us walking down the hot street! Thanks again! I will offer one small bit of advice. This house is not walking distance to any food/beverage/retail, etc. You will need to rent a car. We got the hang of getting into town easily by the second day or so, so this was not a big deal for us in the end. And the beautiful view and added privacy made up for any inconvenience of driving into town. Stay here. You'll love it!

Stop Looking...you found the ONE!

Oh me Oh my what a wonderful place. Please believe the hype, Mike has thought of everything. The picture is a sunrise in November and the sunsets were just as beautiful. You can literally view the amazing sunset from the infinity pool. We actually made a point of being back at the villa for sunset some days. The set up is perfect for two couples. The two bedrooms are identical size beds, rooms, showers and views. Each morning we would brew a pot of coffee and sit out on the deck for a good hour just watching the boats or listening to the waves crash while we planned our day. The villa is very well maintained and practically brand new! The location could not be more perfect, views of sun up and sun down, far enough away from Cruz Bay to be out of the bustle, but close enough to a market that stopping for any supplies was easy. The air conditioning was greatly appreciated as I'm not a big fan of humidity. The owner Mike is a character and was available by e-mail even while we were at the villa. He truly cares about his guests and wants everyone to be comfortable and have a great vacation! I have told so many people about this wonderful destination and Bordo Mare that I'm sure some of our friends will be making the trip. We will most definitely return! Thanks for a memorable anniversary trip, keep up the great hospitality. Go ahead and book now, you won't regret it : )

I know why I come back to Mike Mullen's properties on St John

Just concluded a 10 day stay at Bordo Mare. Words can't describe how enjoyable this Villa made our stay on St John. Here are some of the reasons: 1.The location is awesome...on the cliff overlooking a broad view of the sea facing south and gorgeous views of the ocean from east to west. 2. The property... totally first class, with wonderful decorating, and high end appointments. I have to say that the largest clock in the Villa is stuck at 5PM. The kitchen is huge and totally high end. Though we don't cook on vacation, everything you need is there. We did enjoy the blender, ice maker and refrigerator quite a bit! There is also a huge gas grill, but we saw this as art too. The dual master bedrooms are wonderful,,, best "away from home bed" I have ever slept in. The views from both bedrooms are identical and totally wonderful. Also loved the wireless bose and Wifi so we could stream the tropical pandora station all over the house,,, including the awesome infinity pool and endless view of the ocean. 3. The owner,,, Mulley is just first class. You send him an email and he will respond rapidly. He knows what he is doing to make sure his guests have everything they will need to enjoy the stay at his Villa's. I've stayed at both Bordo Mare and Sopra Mare. A consistent luxury rental at both. I've stayed at VRBO/HomeAway properties all over the world and I have to say, Mulley is tops... I love it when someone takes great care to get the details right, has pride in assuring your best experience and focuses on top quality. I also want to say, Mulley added a number of special touches on both of my stays,,, I'm not sure if they were just for me, but it made us feel special. I know why I go back to Bordo and Sopra Mare! Thanks Mulley!

Bordo Mare is unbelievable! Mike has thought of every detail. From the Tommy Bahama beach chairs to any kitchen utensil imaginable, Bordo Mare far exceeded our expectations. The views are amazing. We had an unbelievable time cannot imagine staying anywhere else in St John.

Wonderful STJ property and location!

This is our 9th year in a row coming to sunny St John. We have always stayed in villas around the island. This is by far our favorite spot. The villa has luxurious comforts from the bedding to the best Tommy Bahama beach chairs. Three different size coolers and beach bags are available to use as well. He has thought of every little detail. The fabulous breeze off the ocean is simply amazing. We will be returning to this amazing villa for many years to come. Thanks again Mulley!! :)
