Wss good but...
The check-in was quick at the Pub bar. We had to pay before anything else 😁. That was a bit strange The rooms are old and I would not rate the hotel as 5 star. It was a more 3*+. The room where clean. The beds are ok but noicy. Also there was a ventilation or something else all the time running. I was staying at room 8.

Our whole experience was fantastic. The room was huge with a fantastic period atmosphere but every modern convenience (roll-top bath, huge separate shower, twin sinks, extremely comfortable king-size bed, storage etc). Staff were great. We ate both in the evening and breakfast. All great. Our best stay anywhere in the country for years!

We just loved everything about the Crown. Rooms are very comfortable. The staff was superb in every way. We will book again for sure.

Nice room but not a good hotel to actually sleep
Lovely pub downstairs and room but don’t stay here if you actually want to sleep and not just pass out after the pub downstairs. I came alone with my daughter and at the end of the night when the pub directly below closed (shortly after 11pm) drunk customers came upstairs heading to their room shouting and congregating in the hallway. It was so loud I had to get out of bed to open my door and tell them some people are trying to sleep. This was a Tuesday night! And you’re paying a premium to stay here so don’t expect it to be that bad. Can’t imagine how bad the noise is at the weekend.

I loved the authenticity of this property. Walk back in time when you first enter the lobby and pub seeing 500 year old oak beams (from decommissioned historical sailing ships) incorporated into the building’s design. Each room is uniquely decorated creating the feel of an old English cottage a reality. Staff were beyond excellent in service and kindness. Bathrooms have claw foot bath tubs and all the amenities of modern day conveniences. The stay at this property was its own experience. Food was excellent as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. FYI: No elevators on this two story property.

Brandon and Chris were excellent. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant. We had breakfast and dinner there twice and enjoyed all meals.We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

Disappointing
Nice room , check in messy - you have it wait for the bar staff to become free . Breakfast disappointing and under cooked - no one in the breakfast area to raise this with ! . Nothing on the buffet was topped up and took over half hour to be offered coffee and for the order to be taken . Comfy quiet room but improvements are needed.

We had a nice stay at The Crown. Very quirky room with low ceiling and doorways but that added to the character of the property. Bed was comfy and the ensuite nicely done out. Due to it being the Queens funeral day we were not able to have dinner there but the pub accords the street offered a great meal. Breakfast was good Full English with fruit and cereals etc as well. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It is right in the village square and a bit busy on all sides with the road. But a decent stay.

We were given a room above the kitchen extractor vent (NO. 8) which produced a constant low pitched throbbing hum which could not be turned off apparently. Sleep would have been impossible. On complaining to the staff we were transferred to room no. 3 at once and we had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay. Huge thanks to them for sorting it out. Note to management - nobody should have to pay to stay in room 8 until that noise is fixed!

Superb inn , steeped in history with great service
Fantastic stay. Stayed in room 1 which was absolutely stunning with 4 poster bed, giant bathroom and a staircase to a loft sitting room. It’s floors were uneven and feels like you are staying in a piece of history with all the old oak panelling . Beautifully decorated and top quality toiletries and tea/coffee. Breakfast was excellent in the morning. We had an evening meal there too and that was good quality (although crumble much better than the bake well tart. Next to where you park your car is the bishops palace. If you have any interest in history this is fascinating too . The staff were so friendly too and helpful. Definitely 5* and will be returning with family again.

The crown inn was lovely, but the room was far too hot, I think this was due to a radiator in the corridor that couldn’t be switched off? So consequently we couldn’t sleep, even with the windows open.
