There was no level entry access to the building and because of mobility issues, this made it difficult to carry our bags into the building. Thankfully the manager left the main desk to help us up the stairs with our bags.

It is an easy walk through the downtown area for shops, food, and drinks. Staff was excellent, I had my dog with me and they brought us dog bowls and a treat for him:)

Management was wonderful. Very accommodating. But very strong odor of chemicals in first room we were given (it actually made my spouse sick) and in second room, toilet was broken and shower water came out yellow brown. ??? We are not complain-y but it was just a lot. Staff was great but hotel seems poorly maintained or short handed? Location great, view lovely.

This was just one night on a road trip and it served the purpose of providing room at reasonable cost for the night. Building is old, has not been updated and there was limited water pressure, and only a single Queen sized bed. Parking was also quite limited. The room was however quite clean.

The only issue was that they put us initially into a SMOKING room on the 3rd floor…we immediately complained, because I don’t want a propert saying that WE were smoking in that room! (It really reeked)… they moved us to another room, and gave a kind of lame defense (“you really have to change the carpet to get the smell out”) I have to ACTUALLY believe that they knew it was a smoking room all along, and that makes me angry …but… they fixed it and all was well

Hi tom, thanks for providing your feedback, I would like to highlight that we don't have smoking rooms in this property, hence, the situation was addressed and our staff conducted a deep cleaning of the carpet in order to keep our cleanliness standards which you experienced in the second room assigned. We have stayed here in the past with no issues unfortunately this stay we had neighbors fighting with each other until the wee hours of the morning and not much was done about it after several complaints. I had to go knock on their door myself and threaten to call the police. We did not sleep much that night.

I booked a queen room online. We have booked this way before at this hotel with no issues. They called me around 8pm while I was driving (I could not answer the phone) and then when I arrived to check in just after 9pm they got mad at me for not answering the phone when they called as they where trying to contact us. They did not explain why they where calling and did not leave a voicemail. Upon checkin we got placed in a room that had a double bed. Normally this is not a big issue but I specifically requested a queen bed as my partner has an injured knee and needs the extra space. So I went to the front desk to inquire. The staff member was unsure as to what size bed was in the room they had just booked us and didn't even bother to check the system. They just moved us two rooms down the hall. To a room that was the exact same. Double bed included. To top it all off there was about 10 kids running in the halls up until 11 at night. Very noisy and the staff did nothing to stop it. As well the TV guide does not line up to the channels that are advertised. Just an overall bad experience. We will not be staying here again.

Never again.
No ice machine. No service overnight. Thank goodness we got parking right outside our window. Hotel looks like it is a place for long term homeless. Room was not clean but after a long day of driving we just wanted to sleep. Definitely not up to a sandman Hotel standard that I know!

Amazing staff. Hands down! I went from packing my bags to find a new stay until the staff acknowledged and looked after me. Addressed and fixed my issues. I would have stayed longer if I didn’t have to return home.

Outstanding staff and service!
We had a fantastic day at Smithers. Oscar, in particular, was super helpful and kind all throughout our visit. We had to change and add days to our stay as we were fishing and our locations were pretty last-minute across-the-board, depending on weather. Really appreciate the staff at the Sandman in Smithers. Fantastic stay! I also want to comment on how accommodating everyone was of our dog, who has cancer. They went the extra mile. Highly recommend and we will definitely be staying here again!

Positive: Beds were comfortable. Convenient location with food close by. Check in was easy. Parking lot is a bit strange but has lots of availability. Negative: Sink in the bathroom was leaking from below and slow to drain. Bathtub was on it's last legs, curved weirdly in the middle like it was cracking/caving in underneath. Tried to use the bathroom fan during first shower but soon it smelled like it was starting to burn and on closer look was very dusty/dirty so didn't use it again. Found a drink bottle cap on the floor by the bed when I first checked into the room, which makes me wonder how thorough they are in cleaning.

Clean but old and dated time for do over. If stairs are an issue think twice. A flight of stairs to climb and carry baggage just to get into the lobby. No elevator. Staff is friendly and helpful
