Gladstone Reef Hotel Motel

"We arrived late at night and were greated by the very kind and helpful night staff. We can only say good things about them! The first room we were assigned had a very bad smell to it (most likely from the sewage). Luckily, there was one more available room in another wing of the hotel, which was simple and clean enough. The parking lot on the premise is an advantage. We only stayed for one night which did the job but if you intend to stay longer, I guess I would look for an alternative."

"This was our second stay on Heron Island and now that we're back home, we can't wait to come back a third time. We travel a lot but this island is one-of-a-kind! The amount of wildlife (turtles, sharks, rays, fish, dolphins, birds, ...) that you get to experience up close is absolutely special. Even if you don't dive, you're able to see all kinds of animals when snorkelling. I highly recommend to get up early and snorkel around the Jetty before breakfast. Both times, we spent 3–4 nights (November+March) on Heron, which we found to be the perfect amount of time to experience the island/reef and enjoy the sunset with a happy-hour-wine. But even outside happy hour, we felt the prices were reasonable. We would personally skip breakfast and opt for a light snack from the bar instead to keep you going until lunch. The resort is kept simple and could probably use a polish here and there but it adds to the charm of being on a remote island surrounded by nature. Depending on the time of the year, there are thousands of birds on this little island that you can learn about during the regular bird walks. You better don't mind a little bird poo ;-) Little tip: The ferry ride to the island can be rough, so better take a seasickness pill beforehand. So go ahead, book and enjoy your time in paradise! :-)"

"Sauberes großes Zimmer. Leider direkt neben dem sehr lauten Fahrstuhl, obwohl wir vorher per Nachricht um ein Zimmer weg vom Fahrstuhl gebeten haben. Das Frühstücksbuffet war okay, mehr aber auch nicht. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Highlight des Hotel war auf jeden Fall der rooftop Pool und die dazugehörigen Bar."
