Nothing to complain about. Had to queue to check in but that was to be expected as there was a wedding on and tribute band so hotel was busy. Couldnt fault the reception staff. Very friendly and helpful. Thought we wpuld be entitled to 50 percent discojnt on ncp parkjng but they didnt know about it

The building is amazing, The staff first rate, The area like many seaside resorts suffering from a lack of investment and looking very tired. We came for a family party and used the hotel for accommodation, highly recommend, oh and get a sea view room WOW.

Our first room provided to us for myself who’s pregnant partner and 2year old daughter absolutely stunk of cigarettes despite being a non smoking room and evidence of smoking taking place on window ledge. Staff were really helpful and moved us to a completely different room which was appreciated. The hotel was very Loud overnight again not staffs fault but people residing here. Overall would stay again for one night

It's a beautiful hotel which is in need of refurbishment. For the price I paid I was happy with my stay. Downstairs is lovely but the bedrooms and corridors are not. The room was basic but adequate. If you want a luxurious room don't go there. If you want to experience the grandeur of a bygone age very cheaply and don't mind a basic room then this is the place for you.

Was a lovely building back in the day. But very tired and in need of refurbishment. Our room SU03 was awful felt like we were in the cellar. Narrow corridor of which ours smelt of faeces. Said it was a double with window but might as well have not bothered with it being frosted glass which made it even darker. Felt claustrophobic. So many dogs around the hotel in corridors and reception. 2 dogs were having a go at each other I had to go another way round. Never again will we stay here. Parking so limited.

The bathroom shower riser came away i had to reposition it then when i went to collect a towel off the towel rail it fell to the floor i had to replace it.There was an inspection panel hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom There was drilling dust all along the bathroom floor that had not been cleaned up. All in all a poor show all around and the room and toilet did not come up to expected standards its named The Grand Hotel but nothing grand in our experience.The parking is also a problem.

The place in a brilliant spot, property lovely but our room was in need of an update the beds were clean although they did creak & so did the floor but with the age of the building to be expected. The breakfast was good although the evening meal could do with fresh vegetables instead of frozen. All in all enjoyed our stay

I arrived late (20.30) so checked in dropped my bags and went for a drink. Getting back to my room at 22.30 I went for a shower only to discover the shower was covered in paint , which had been scrapped from the roof which had been painted but they hadn’t cleaned up really bad.

Firstly, the quality of customer service was excellent and who supported me with issues I had with both rooms ( I had to change rooms for my second night and unfortunately, there were issues with this room too! ) The service provided by the staff in the dining room was also excellent. Finally, I have enjoyed many stays at the Grand Hotel over the years and I do hope the hotel is able to resolve the issues I experienced during my stay.

This really was Victorian Splendour combined with immaculate service! The staff were more than helpful at all times and very polite. I loved the cleanliness and space. I was in room 338 and had a town view across the entrance area which was very nostalgic of yesteryear! 10 out of ten in all aspects.

The room was budget priced clean but needed some minor repairs eg. Toilet roll holder replaced but the old screw holes not filled in . The room has wonderful view over Scarborough bay but at 11pm young people were noisily racing cars on the beach. At 5am we were awoken by noisy people on the bar balcony below , followed by a fire alarm ! It is such a shame that customers do not appreciate this wonderful property. Even though it was not perfect we shall go again as it is one of Englands little gems and needs to be visited in order for it to survive . The staff are very friendly and if you can look past any problems it’s a must . Please let's provide this little historic gem with the funds to ensure it endures ,so that the property can be maintained and reach a higher standard.

A nice toom - eventually
We got a good deal for a 3 night midweek stay. Check in was quick, staff friendly. Got to our room on 4th floor and it absolutely stunk of what smelt like cat urine. I asked for a new room and was given a lovely premium room overlooking South Bay. When we went out for a walk later , we checked out where our first room was , and could see piles of seagull poo right on the window ledge and we are assuming that's what the smell was. Hoping they have sorted it!

Hotelmwas clean and room was ok on arrival staff were friendly and helpful night staff on the other hand were rude a member of staff woke us up at midnight demanding me to go to front desk to pay which I had already done showed him the receipt no apology or anything why he couldn't of looked on the system or come earlier in the night as was in the room from 5.30 pm is beyond me then trying to get back to sleep and fire alarms kept going off definitely won't be going back

Not so grand
So we checked into the grand hotel at Scarborough about 4pm and were given our room key room 441 4th floor . We got in the room it was really cold and felt damp the double bed was a 3/4 bed and the small window looked down on an inner brick wall . The radiator would not turn on and the pipes were cold . Next I checked the bathroom to find the smallest square shower I ever saw complete with cracked shower tray with ceramic tiles half missing and sharp edges . Back down to reception to que for 20 mins . I explained the problems and told them that my husband had copd and asthma and there was no way we could stay in a cold room. The lady on the desk said she didn't think there were any more available rooms. Another room was allocated so we trudged back up to the 5th floor room 523 . We walked in and again it was cold and draughty there was no central heating just a small poxy oil radiator. The toilet had piss stains all over it , shower was minging. Sharp broken plastic on the wall above the sink . The window sills had a lining of mold and holes and pieces of wood missing from the window frames . The entrance door was cracked . At this point I saw red mist .Back downstairs with the luggage to que for another 20 minutes .This time I asked for the duty manager. We were sent into a side room to wait and eventually the lady came , she wanted to fob us off but I made her sit down while I explained the poor state of the rooms we had been allocated and asked her to look at the photos
