With the surrounding North York National Park moorland and forest as well as Yorkshire’s spectacular coastline less than a 30-minute drive away, this welcoming retreat is wonderfully positioned for exploring the very best of coast and country.

Step inside and you’ll find a spacious, open-plan living area where original character is complemented by thoughtful, homely touches. Settle back on the comfortable sofa after a day of exploring, or curl up with a good book from the cabinet, which also houses a selection of games for relaxed evenings together. A futon chair folds out to create a single bed for an additional guest, while the drop-leaf dining table provides a cosy spot for sharing meals or planning the next day’s adventures. Beautiful ornaments collected by the owner during travels through Asia add colour and individuality to this charming space.

The adjoining kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to prepare anything from leisurely breakfasts to hearty evening meals. Also on this level is the modern and inviting shower room.

Four steps lead up to the peaceful double bedroom, complete with built-in wardrobes providing plenty of storage for your stay.

Outside, Yederick Barn has its own private patio and seating area, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee in the fresh country air or unwinding with a drink at the end of the day. Off-road parking is also available on the driveway.

Sawdon makes a wonderful base for discovering North Yorkshire. The North York Moors National Park is close by, with its sweeping heather-clad moorland, wooded valleys and picturesque villages laced with walking trails. Whether you fancy a gentle countryside stroll or a more challenging hike, there are countless ways to experience this beautiful landscape on foot.

Head towards the coast and you can soon be enjoying the traditional seaside delights of Scarborough, with its sweeping beaches, historic castle and lively seafront. Filey is also within easy reach and offers a more relaxed seaside experience, with a glorious sandy beach and wonderful coastal walks.

For a memorable day out, visit the market town of Pickering, where you can step aboard the heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Steam trains make their way through spectacular moorland scenery and characterful villages towards Whitby, one of Yorkshire’s best-loved coastal towns, famous for its atmospheric abbey, historic harbour and winding streets.
