A terrific experience. The hotel was outstanding, situated in lovely grounds where we enjoyed walking amongst the lemon trees. The room large, comfortable and clean was right beside the large swimmong pool which we mostly had to ourselves. The hotel is rural but close enough to bars and cafes that we could walk out for something to eat if not using the hotel restaurant which itself was great with lovely food. The staff really could not do enough for us.
We do not drive, which meant more effort to get out and do things but with 2 train stations within what I would class as walkable distance we took the regular, low cost trains wherever we wanted to visit. (towns along the coast)
Our one mistake was viviting Palermo whose markets had been reccomended to us. Palermo has become a squatter town for refugees and was dirty and over crowded; give it a miss.
Travelling in the other direction though we found hot springs, nice beaches, a diving centre and friendly locals all keen to interact with us.
Would go again.
