Ocean Villas 8385 Beachfront Condo

Gorgeous Ocean Views from a beachfront villa situated on the fabulous Rio Mar Resort After making about 20 trips to the same area, we bought our favorite villa. With approximately 900 square feet, the unit is part of what was once the Wyndham's suite hotel. Sold as condos in the early 2000's, private owners have been in charge of customizing their private units while keeping the outside public spaces immaculate. We absolutely love the third floor vantage point of the ocean, pool and palms trees. While enjoying coffee on the breezy balcony, it is possible to watch a cat sized iguana lounging in the lawn or next to the pool. The unit is complete with a king sized bedroom, a full bathroom, an open living space and a kitchenette. We are proud owners and are continually making improvements. We started by replacing the curtains, changing out the dining room table, and opening up the space, making it feel more open and airy. The bedroom has received a new ceramic "wood" floor. The living room has been updated with new tables from West Elm and a new Futon. We have recently added a 75" television and have removed the bathtub in favor of a walk in shower. We are also filling the unit with artwork from local artisans. Look for updates frequently in the pictures. As great as pictures can be, they cannot accurately describe the beauty of the view and the proximity to the ocean. If one is lucky, he or she will be here for a full moon - breathtaking in its own right. If for some strange reason, the weather is awful, the unit has games, and a television with Netflix and streaming apps for your entertainment. We also live 1 mile from the unit and we have an incredible amount of recommendations for food, drink, activities, and shopping in the immediate area as well as the San Juan metro region. You will have access to the entire unit, save one small which is used to store our personal belongings and cleaning supplies. We live less than a mile away and one of us is always available if there are questions or concerns. Our neighborhood is the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort Community in Rio Grande, PR. While guests are welcome to spend their entire time at the Ocean Villas, the Wyndham Grand Hotel and its amenities are a five minute walk down the beach. Choose from one of the 5 restaurants on the property, or take a quick drive down Highway 3 to the Luquillo Kioskos which offer traditional Puerto Rican faire, ceviche, pizza, Italian food, and everything in between. For those looking for more activities, this is a great place to start. Golfers will love the two championship golf courses on the grounds of the resort. The River course, designed by Greg Norman, gives vistas of El Yunque; while the Ocean Course, designed by George and Tom Fazio, takes you along the beach as you perfect your game. For those that prefer a more active game, the resort has one of the premier Tennis Centers in the Caribbean. With 11 Har tru courts, and 2 hard courts, the tennis center is a must for those that like to hit the yellow ball. Runners will love the 1 mile stretch of beach and the miles of trails that meander through the 500 acre resort. Looking for a day trip? El Yunque National Park is a 15 minute drive from the Villa. On your way to the rainforest, make sure to stop in the sleepy town of Palmer- with its cafes, fabulous art galleries, juice bar, bakery and outstanding breakfast place. For those looking to go further afoot, the marinas of Fajardo and Ceiba are about 20-25 minutes away. From there one can take the ferry to Culebra, take a snorkeling trip to Icacos, or explore the Cabo San Juan Lighthouse on the northeast tip of the island. Please note - the unit is on the resort and use of the hotel's pools and other amenities are at the discretion of the Wyndham. Most times, guests are welcome if they are patronizing the hotels food and beverage outlets. However, during high times, the hotel will limit the restaurants and pools to use by guests of the hotel. Although there are shuttles to the resort, renting a car is advised. This allows for day trips, easy transfer to and from the airport, and a means to get food and personal items at the nearby supermarket. A complimentary parking space is provided with the rental. The Ocean Villas pools can accommodate around 100 people comfortably, although the most people I have ever seen at one time is around 20 - on a holiday. It's like having your own private resort. Also, we really want everyone to enjoy the place to the fullest, and we hate leaving as well, but we are not always able to extend checkout past 11 am on your last day. We have to give our cleaning staff time to get ready for the next guests. In the case that we are able to extend the check in our the check out, there will be $100 charge for either checking in up to two hours early or checking out up to two outs after the designated time.
