A real castle! (but sadly the rooms...)
Amazing Hotel! A real castle with pet peacocks in the garden - we loved it! Staff was ok but neither was help offered with our luggage at arrival & departure (after we asked for help we got a quite rude "No!" as an answer by the receptionist...) nor did they felt like helping us with any of our "extra" requests; service was mostly slow. Room was ok but worn out, some stains here and there, dust in corners. Extra bathtub in bedroom smelled horrible so we weren't able to use it at all.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear you were not offered assistance with your luggage - we do always have a Porter on shift who is on hand to help with this. Ruthin Castle has recently been sold andis under new management. Refurbishment has already begun on the public areas and the rest of the Castle will soon follow with many improvements. I do hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

enttäuschte Hoffnungen
eigentlich hatten wir uns einiges versprochen von dem Hotel, wir wurden aber in den Keller verfrachtet, das Zimmer war klein aber doch sehr schön ausgestattet. Nur der Ausblick aus dem Fenster war nichts und nachts hat der Lärm des Ventilator einer Kühlung neben dem Schlafzimmerfenster sehr gestört. Das personal war sehr nett, aber wenig aufmerksam und mit der allgemeinen Sauberkeit hat man es in diesem Hotel nicht so genau genommen. Ich kann mir vorstellen, wenn man in dem Hotel eines der schönen Zimmer erwischt, wäre der Aufenthalt auch ein mehr positives Erlebnis. Das Gebäude an sich und die Umgebung ist recht schön und sehenswert.

The property was absolutely stunning, the rooms are very dated but too be expected I feel there trying to keep in keep with the castle’s original decor, the staff are very friendly and helpful, I was staying for work over night, but would definitely return on a personal trip

I rang before i did my booing to find out for a suite with a four poster bed they said its available. booked got to the property what a disappointment no rooms available i was gutted gave me a cheap suite. If i new it wasn't available i wouldn't have booked. Make sure you check what your booking thought me lesson.

What a gorgeous place Ruthin Castle Hotel is , we had a 2 night stay there we took the room only option and thought the hotel was fantastic, we had a standard double room which had an absolutely massive bathroom with shower and bath , the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help, this was our first time at Ruthin Castle Hotel but it won't be our last , can't wait for the next visit

It’s a castle! So, it is characterful and stunning. Nothing like the sterile environment of a Premier inn! The staff and friendly and helpful and chatty! Service in the restaurant is good and the food is good - could do with more vegetarian and vegan options (for those who are dairy intolerant). It’s definitely a unique place to stay. Highly recommended. Mustn’t forget to mention the peacocks…

Beautiful grounds and impressive castle like building. Yes its old and I love the characteristics of such an.older property. However really does need uprating in quite a few areas. Our bedroom spacious but very tired needing painting, furniture tatty and wobbling ...needs some TLC then it would be perfect

Two day break
Had a relaxing two day stay at Ruthin Castle, incorporating a spa day, the staff are so helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The evening meal and breakfast was exceptional. Plenty of choice, varied menu, This is our third stay at Ruthin Castle, things just get better with each vist, will definitely be back and would highly recommend a break here. Ps special thanks to the barman, lovely guy

Went for a one night stay for my partners birthday.what a lovely experience it was. After reading reviews after booking it I was wondering if it was not going to be so good.as some complaints about it being slightly run down and cold.we went with an open mind and we was not diserpointed at all.it was actually much better than we ever imagined it was going to be and we can't wait to go back. Our room was just fantastic,warm, clean and furnished beautiful. We had a four poster bed and it was perfect. The whole experience was so lovely and the staff where very attentive and helpful.ruth from the dining room was such a lovely lady and couldn't do enough for everyone. The food was fine we had an evening meal and breakfast, couldn't fault it. Had a wander around the grounds seeing all the wildlife and peacocks.granted some things are a little tired and tatty but it's a castle and none of that reflected on our opinions of the whole experience.we absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back. Thank you for a lovely stay ,lovely experience and very nice staff.

A splendid building is let down by very poor standards. There seemed no contingency in cold weather to heat the public spaces as well as the rooms. Absolutely freezing and virtually impossible to rectify with the inadequate heating system. Shower drain was blocked. Toilet seat damaged. Some lights not working. Mould on bathroom tiles. Two panes of glass missing from large window on main staircase with freezing air blowing in. The list goes on and most of these issues could be rectified quickly and at minimum cast. The quality of the breakfast was mediocre and very poorly presented with buckets of food being poured into serving dishes. This should not be carried out in front of guests waiting to serve themselves but done elsewhere and brought to the dining area ready to serve. Staff are very friendly and simply require guidance and support which appears to be missing.

Asked for room to make up when came back to room in the evening nothing done, no fridge in the room, locker broken , room phone line not working, lift broken .. its just not great experience as i had when stayed couple of years ago on upper floor.

Romantic getaway
What a fabulous place; the building is beautiful, the grounds are lovely for a wander around and the room was magnificent. The room was warm, the bed very comfortable and bathroom was clean and the towels were fluffy. We would very much recommend this place to stay. The food was fab: amazing choice for breakfast and really well thought, seasonal dinner options. Good wine list and lovely bar to relax in.
