Insgesamt zufrieden
Das Hotel machte auf uns zunächst einen etwas düsteren Eindruck, in den Außenanlagen etwas schmuddelig. Es liegt direkt an der Themse, aber zugleich an einem stark befahrenen Kreisverkehr mit entsprechendem Lärmpegel, direkt gegenüber einer Tankstelle. Unser Zimmer war geräumig und sauber, da gab es nichts zu bemängeln. Man kann zu Fuß in die City gehen, teilweise an der Themse entlang. Das Frühstück war durchschnittlich, zudem fehlte ständig mal dies und mal das. Das Personal im Frühstücksbereich machte einen etwas überforderten Eindruck. Insgesamt waren wir dennoch mit unserem Aufenthalt zufrieden.

Das Hotel lag direkt an der Themse. Man konnte sofort an der Promenade loslaufen und wenn man wollte stundenlang wandern. Die Spa hatte einen sehr grosses Schwimmbad, einen Whirlpool, eine Dampf und eine kleine Sauna. Man konnte von der Sauna sofort wieder ins Wasser. Die Lauf-und Trainingegeraete habe ich nicht ausprobiert, aber es waren viele, doch wenig Leute.

Sehr schöne Lage, direkt an der Themse
Sehr angenehmes Hotel. Einige Kleinigkeiten könnten jedoch trotzdem noch verbessert werden: Beim sehr guten Frühstück wurde teilweise nicht oder erst spät das Buffet nachgefüllt. Eine grössere Feier (Wochenende / Hochzeit) war doch recht laut, es erfolgte im Vorfeld kein Hinweis an uns bzw, eine Entschuldigung dafür. Ansonsten jedoch sehr empfehlenswert.

Hotel- und Spabereich ist sehr gut, Das Schwimmbad hat eine sehr angenehme Temperatur, ideal für kälteempfindliche Damen. Wir kommen bereist das dritte Jahr im Dezember und fühlen uns dort sehr wohl. Leider hat der Frühstücksservice etwas nachgelassen.

The staff on front desk was not friendly or accommodating for people arriving 15 minutes early for check in time. At 3pm there ended being a line up over a dozen people trying to check in. Staff in restaurant didn’t use common sense of putting a few tables together to accommodate a party of 8 people. They did not keep on top of lack of mugs, glasses and cutlery during the breakfast hours.

Our room was very clean with some nice surprises we weren't expecting. I only gave four stars because we weren't able to use the jacuzzi and steam room which were out of order. Overall, a great experience with professional and pleasant staff.

It was our 1st Anniversary celebration we booked this hotel to be able to use all facilities such as Jacuzzi, etc. the room I booked was meant to be with a river view. When we arrived we been told that Jacuzzi is out of order and also when we arrive in our room we find out the room we been put in have no view on river, the stuff was not helpful to sort it out. We was will to pay extra for upgraded room but hotel staff refused as we used klarna to pay for our stay.

Worst hotel experience - avoid
I recently arrived for just a one night businesss stopover at Reading and selected Crowne Plaza as a known brand though I hadn’t previously stayed. At check in, staff were pleasant though the hotel looked a little run down and one of the main lifts was out of service. Up to my room and the corridor area was clearly past due for renovation, old and frankly a little grubby. Entering my room and I was disgusted at what was waiting - room clearly not cleaned / made up. Not sure what the previous occupant had used it for but bedding everywhere, toilet roll on the bed and toilet paper all over the room with blood over the white sheets. Bathroom also a mess. Straight back to reception to huge apologies, tokens for drinks and a long wait for another room. Mid Jan and this room was freezing cold and heating didn’t work. Eventually fixed by maintenance so sat for an hr in my coat while the room slowly warmed up. Room service food was limited so had a very average dinner while waiting for some heat. No further apology at checkout - I have discussed with colleagues and my entire team will not now use Crowne Plaza when in Reading - worst hotel experience I can remember. What happened to the Crowne Plaza brand standards?

First timers in Crowne Plaza.
First time at this hotel near Reading. Everything was good as expected from the cost and reputation. Unfortunately a few minor issues affected our stay but we would definitely return. The lifts were not working properly for our two day stay which would have been an issue for those with mobility constraints. We had a very noisy couple next door so we had to move rooms The move was OK. The birds are very active in the car park and left many car owners with cleaning bills. On the positive side, desk staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent though no bagels. Room was spacious warm and bed was very comfortable. We will return again soon

Not the best experience
We did not have the best experience at this hotel. Firstly the flush on the toilet broke at 11pm and when we went to reception to report this, they informed us that it would be the following day that this would be repaired, so during the night we had to come and use the facilities in the main reception. Also at breakfast, there was copious amounts of soil and dirt in the mushrooms, when we reported this to reception, they told us that we should have shown them and there is nothing they can do for us. The next day when going for breakfast, we were told by the waiting staff to sit at one of the tables that had all of the previous people's plates and food on and they told us that someone will clear this after we had had our breakfast which is totally unacceptable. The tables should be cleaned before we sit at them and this is poor customer service. We were also informed that there were no towels at the spa and we had to go up and get our bath towels from the room and use these. When we raised these concerns at checkout, the general manager said he cannot do anything about this as we booked through hotels.com and we need to contact you directly..

If you want to eat your breakfast in peace, make sure there isn't a conference taking place during your stay. Sat down to eat breakfast, and over 100 people attending a conference at the crown Plaza overtook the restaurant, standing in groups, greeting and chatting to one another, surrounding our breakfast table, making it very unpleasant and hard to get to the breakfast items with all those people surrounding you. Overtaking the coffee machine taking food off the breakfast, even putting their mugs on our table and taking our sugar lumps off our table. There should be a seperate area for conference goers to get their coffee, not the restaurant area where guests are trying to enjoy their breakfast. I raised my unhappiness with a member of staff, and they tried to move them out of the way, to one end of the room, but they took no notice and continued milling around the breakfast tables. I also told reception staff at check out that our whole breakfast experience had totally ruined our stay and it's not a nice experience trying to eat your breakfast with all that chaos surrounding you, and I was told the conference attendees were allowed to use the coffee machine!
