Apparently, I was told, they are burning fires in Mexico and also Belize has a lot of fires burning as well, so the air was thick with smoke and haze. It stayed at around 90 degrees fahrenheit, day and night. There was no tide, no breeze, no relief from the heat, no access to the ocean from the property unless you have a boat.
