Elektra was exactly what we needed. There are two apartments in the house; Arkady and Elektra. We stayed in Elektra for a few days at the beginning of August. The apartment was beautiful, homely (not just the usual whitewashed clinical finish), and clean, with outstanding views of Navarino Bay from the kitchen/balcony. This innovative feature makes more sense than you would fist imagine; and is something that we will remember for long time (if only we had the weather for it in the UK!). The house is situated just far enough up the hill to give you peace and quiet but just close enough to walk to the beach and the village. Perfect… Or, you can walk the other way up amongst all the Olive groves. One of which the house it situated in. And I’m sure you can even borrow a lovely dog from Nigel and Fiona to accompany you if fancy (we recommend Daisy!)…
Nigel and Fiona gave a warm welcome which equalled the weather and the clear waters of the bay. We also took advantage of their recommendations, taking trips to Pylos and Methoni. We saw the Polylimnio Waterfalls, Methoni Castle. We spent many hours snorkelling around the beaches in Methoni and Navarino Bay. If we had had the car for longer we would have gone to Messini and further afield.
Our memories are full of lovely weather, beautiful thunderstorms, sand in beds, warm sea, snorkelling and starfish, sailing, scuba-diving, unfinished books, late trips to the local Stasi restaurant, unpolluted star-filled night skies, and of course Greek salads.
Next time we will try and visit some of the places we didn't have time for, go scuba-diving again, and maybe try a bit of windsurfing or kite-surfing; because we will definitely be returning here and would recommend it to everyone…
