The property was fine, but there were a lot of issues. Pool tiles were broken and missing throughout the pool. The rooms weren’t the cleanest, and there was a sewage-like smell that we frequently experienced.
Dining was a disaster, with reservations only being available from 10:45 pm or later, and only on the final days of our trip. We eventually were able to get a couple of reservations, but it took hours of discussion with guest services. The buffets were honestly some of the worst we’ve experienced in 17 years of going to the Dominican Republic. Aside from the food, there were long lines for everything and machines that regularly stopped working.
Most of the staff were really nice, and tried very hard. There were a few folks, however, that were rude with very interaction throughout our stay.
In the end, I had a nice time being on vacation, and it was great to see family, but I have no plans to return to this property on my next trip to the DR. Other Barcelo properties I’ve visited have been really good, but I can’t recommend this one, especially when there are so many other wonderful options in the area.
